I have been to Primos Cafe twice within the last two months. Each time the experience was seriously underwhelming & I will not be returning. My first criticism is the ordering & seating. You order at the counter & seat yourself. This makes the whole experience slow to a crawl while people look the paper menu over with others waiting in line. There is no table service. You won't be able to order more food without getting back in line & have to serve yourself drinks. On both visits I have ordered the "Pete's Omelette". This is not an omelette. I thought the first time was a fluke, but the second time was the same disappointment. What you get is unseasoned carton egg mix overcooked in a patty, with a scarce amount of what should be the filling on top. There's supposed to be cheese but I saw none each time. They fold the whole thing back over, & as the picture shows there is nothing in this "omelette". I will not breakfast at a diner that doesn't know how to make an omelette. In addition the turkey sausage is actually rubber, & the hashbrowns are mediocre. I'm glad they are consistent because that makes me assured in my decision to not return. My breakfast companion ordered the shrimp salad. She was served fryer shrimp from the freezer on top of shredded iceberg lettuce like Taco Bell uses. She sent it back immediately & got a very boring shrimp po-boy. Crucially for this review; with a dish sent back one would expect the front of house manage to come see why. No one cared. One star. If you want an authentic American diner experience, go to Brent's Drugs in Fondren. They serve omelettes.

Very clean inside the restaurant. The staff was friendly. The food was good with the exception of my sausage patty being over cooked. My boyfriend was not a fan of the grits. I ordered several slices of cake but have not tasted them yet. My boyfriend ate a peanut butter cookie and enjoyed it. I will edit my review once I try the cake. Update 10-26-18: On my visit I purchased red velvet cake, carrot cake, german chocolate cake and hummingbird cake. I tasted a tiny piece of each and gave the rest to my kids. For the most part the cakes were moist and delicious. My son is a huge fan of red velvet cake and his standard is high for that cake; he wasn't very impressed with the taste. Although the cakes were delicious the red velvet was the least favorite. The portion size of the cake was generous. My favorite was the carrot cake.

Not sure what happen today but Promos missed the mark on this one. I ordered the honey chicken biscuit, cheese grits, and a pancake on the side. The chicken biscuit was mostly biscuit because the chicken was super small compared to previously visits and the advertisement on the menu, inquired about it to the food runner he stated “yes they are all small you have to pay for extra chicken if you want more”. Also there was no honey, but he quickly brought me a side of honey. The cheese grits were good, therefore no complaints there. Next time I’ll stick to getting cheese grits! We will try again another visit!

I have tried to like this place and have given it numerous chances over the years. Every now and then, my meal will turn out pretty good overall. But more times than not, it disappoints. My most recent experience involved the omelette with grits on the side, a side of bacon, and a pancake. Of those things, only the omelette showed up at a decent temperature (albeit with huge chunks of veggies instead of diced). While warm, it just wasn't particularly good. The bacon had clearly been reheated but then allowed to cool off again, leaving it both cold and with hard pieces that you couldn't chew. The grits were good even though they were basically cold. The only thing that I asked that they redo was the bacon. However, it was clear that instead of having some fresh bacon available that they simply microwaved another batch. Except this time, it was microwaved to the point that it was dark brown and completely inedible. I would have been embarrassed to bring out something that looked like that, and given that it came from the woman who was charged with checking on each guest's experience, that makes matters even worse. If this was Waffle House, then maybe this would be something within the realm of expectations. But when you are paying $15 for the meal that I had, you expect a...

This week, I ordered the fried chicken blue plate meal online. Primos staff is very helpful, and I order from this restaurant because I know I don't have to wonder whether or not my food is going to be right. I come in on my lunch break, my food is hot and ready to pick up, and the staff know me by name and get me in and out quickly so that I can get back to my store. Their fried chicken has a great flavor as well.

I do have one concern. When it comes to ordering the chicken online, there is no option to choose which piece of chicken I prefer. This is the third time I've had it, and I still don't understand getting the irregular chicken pieces that are not visually identifiable. The last order I received looked as if someone took a breast and chopped it into 3 pieces. We as the public understand that if you get a breast, you may only get one piece, and that's okay. But chop it up? Who does that? I'm just one of those who need a visual to send the information to my stomach to accept what's coming. Food that is questionable or suggestive doesn't sit well with me. So, may I please have the freedom to choose again??

Thank you! Your service...
