First I want to say the ice cream we had was okay. It's Blue Bunny brand which isn't a premium brand in my view. When I think Blue Bunny I think mass factory production. Again it's okay ice cream but Cafe Ridgway A La Mode is charging premium prices for a average fair product. So if you go there just don't expect small batch or premium ice cream. Then there is the guy running the place. He really rubbed me the wrong way. He has in my opinion no business being in a customer facing position. He literally signed my credit card for me in front of my face and blew me OFF!!!! I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS CHARGED! Then right in front of me be let small (under age 10) children serve themselves ice cream from the same case that my family was served from. No washing hands no food sanitization by the small children who we all know are just breading grounds for decease. That's not a judgement against the kids. That's just life. Kids pick up all kinds of things because their immune systems are developing. I was just appalled that the owner has so little regard to food safety. Again he should be working to fix his store and not serving customers. The woman who was working there was very nice and prepared a good milkshake for me. Was it the award winning shake of 2012? Heck no. I honestly felt like this creamery was from an episode of kitchen nightmares. An owner who doesn't know when to back off and focus on what he needs to focus on and a co-owner or subordinate who isn't empowered to serve the customers. She really was a nice lady and I'm sure had she had the right ingredients for my milk shake it would have been that award winning shake that is talked about on the menu. Last but not least I am sharing the picture of the A/c unit in the back of the store going full blast with the door open and out of view all of the windows open. This owner is literally throwing money out the window for reasons I can't understand. I'm giving this creamery 3 stars only because the lady who helped us was nice. 1 star taken for selling average (cheap Blue Bunny) ice cream. 1 star removed for credit card fraud (you DO NOT SIGN A CUSTOMER TRANSACTION. EVER!) I truly feel sorry for that poor woman who works there. If the owner would simply step back and focus on providing better products and a better creamery experience (fixing the AC for example) and let that woman hiring a coulpe kids to run things in the front of the house I think this place would be 5 stars.

Walking around checking out the little town found this wonderful Mom/Pop ice cream shop. Perfect! Lots of selections of good ice cream, place was clean, staff friendly, nice sitting area outside, & they will let you have a sample of their products if you are unsure. RV parking to the left side or across the street at the park.

I got the Coconut Ube ice cream and it was creamy and delicious! As a Filipino I was very suprised to see ube ice cream in a small mountain town, and to hear that it’s popular. Definitely worth a stop😋

A group of six of us were walking up the bottom of the ramp to go to the window, when we where rudely told to back off because he (I believe the owner but not positive) was getting a bread delivery. At first we didn’t even know who this person was, because he was not wearing anything to signify that he worked there. The bread delivery was nowhere to be seen. But even as we backed up from the door, he continuously held his hand up and told us to back off. It was not so much what he said, but how he said it. As if we as customers where interfering with his very busy schedule. A minute later from the car we saw the bread delivery man pushing a small cart, and given the building’s structure, it would have taken less than 5 seconds to clear a way. And so we decided to take our money elsewhere. He might have just been having a bad day, but that would only be the cause, not an excuse. And when you are an ice cream store that values a delivery of 20 pieces of bread over selling ice cream (your primary business), and you are willing to be very rude to communicate concerns that are not even relevant, you...

Brought my family down from the mountains to have ice cream this Saturday afternoon, only to be greeted by a sign that said "be right back." We waited for quite a while because we had driven more than an hour to come and get ice cream, and a one-hour ride back home with kids who had been promised ice cream and didn't get any did not sound like fun. There was no time on the note, so there was no telling how long they had been gone. This was very disappointing for all of us. We don't mind spending an extra 40 minutes on the road to support a small, local business, but we ended up going to a corporate chain instead. None of us were happy with this outcome. Definitely won't risk our time with my family on this place again. If we are in town and someone happens to be there, we will give them...
