This is a lovely bakery! I’ve been here several times since finding out about it about 6mo ago. 99% of the time my desserts were excellent. The last two times were a bit disappointing but will not keep me from coming back. A few days ago I got a cream puff, which is one of my favorites. That day, it was rather stale, like perhaps was from day prior? I ate the bottom part and the cream but threw away the top. And then about 3wks ago I decided to try the chocolate cake. The one side of the slice, which was the outer side, was stale. I still ate the cake because it was still delicious 🤭 but would have been better if it had not been getting dried out. Lattes are pretty good. I must say I do like LaColumbe coffee the best. I believe Lavazza is the brand they use, but it is still good. Planet Oat is the oat milk they use, which is the kind I use at home. But, I do like Oatly for lattes. But they’re just my personal preferences. I am really happy this bakery opened! It’s clean and the selection of pastries makes it very difficult to make a decision on what to get. I want to try the cinnamon roll and filled dessert croissant too. *Update—The lemon cello cake is so delicious but the slices are so small :( almost $5 for a slice. The cake is cut into 16 instead of 8. I rather pay a little more, like maybe $6 for a regular size slice. It takes all my willpower not to buy a slice, because of the small size, but I am sorry, I can’t justify paying so much for so little. I do hope they will reconsider the size of cake slices. Unfortunately everything is getting smaller everywhere at a...
Read moreNapoleon should be flaky, not doughy. Apple turnovers should taste like apples. A friendly customer should not be ignored or mumbled to when speaking. Grading on the pennsyltucky curve, it's a 2.5/5. That's for not overloading either pastry with sugar like almost every other place around there. This place would be 1/5 on their best day while still in business in an actual city. Won't be back, it looks good in the pics buts lipstick on a pig in oh so many ways.
Update 4/14: as someone shared with me, based on her expressed opinion: a napoleon with soft is an eclaire but even an eclaire is flaky on edges. It's one thing to pass off old stuff as fresh. It's another to try to make something, FAIL, then make excuses. I graded on a curve originally but since the pennsyltucky attitude was present in the owners response, let me grade this place based on NYC, LA, and SF standards: 0/5. This place wouldn't survive a month in a town with people with higher standards. Some of us have been to finer places, all over Western Europe and major cities in US. Please don't tell me lipstick on a pig is glamorous. And please stop pretending that's an insult rather than an accurate simile. And a holy blessed day to you too,...
Read moreOrdered a big cake and cupcakes (total of almost $100 order) for a birthday and while the cake itself was good, I’m still wondering the girl’s at the register attitude :) Not quite sure if it was because she heard my kid talking Russian to me (it’s a Ukrainian place) so she automatically presumed I’m from Russia (fyi, there were 15 countries in ex USSR and all of them speak Russian) or my appearance was not at the par to her, so her mock smile was like I was not good enough to be there or I am retarded or something and she’s doing me a HUGE favor. I just stepped out of house wearing sweatpants so looked like a student (I’m 38). Judging by appearance is so typical for those countries, I’m sure she’s in the beginning of realizing this and will learn that she gotta be nice to EVERYONE in order to do business and, more importantly, to keep a good reputation. I was excited to find a bakery in this area that makes deserts from my childhood but sorry, definitely not excited to get such a treatment from a younger lady at...
