Listen up,pathetic representation of customer service I've ever witnessed. You're not going to believe what went down but bear with me, this needs to be aired out.
Picture this: I'm rushing to reach this place to get a warm meal before they close, pedal to the metal, literally breaking my back there, hoping it's not too late. I make it, barely but surely, 20 cushy minutes left to spare. What do they tell me? 'You can only order to-go'. No cozy booth, no relaxed meal. To-go, they say, like we're at some pit-stop on the freeway.
But wait, it gets better. Now, I've got this food and I see this massive party of twelve chomping away at some corner, plenty enjoying their in-house dining. So what do I do? I've got my 15-year-old right there with me, tired and hungry. We take a seat, food in hand, to have a quick bite.
First strike was when they, with absolutely no respect or decorum, go ahead and shut the lights. It's not even bloody closing time yet! They might not have screamed 'get the hell out' but that's precisely what they did. Tossing subtle hints around like a football. Mate, I'm trying to sit there, enjoy a simple meal with my kid, and they're giving us this harrowingly awkward side-eye. If uncomfortable was a place, we were living it in high-def reality. Felt like bloody squatters trying to sneak a bite in.
To say I'm livid is an understatement. Absolutely horrific show by the so-called 'staff', more like poorly-trained apes. Their impatience was palpable and their incompetence? Tears were shed, more for the horrible experience than their pitiful situation. As for the service, I've seen snails move across empty bottles quicker than they could get their act together. No doubt in my mind, these folks are the reigning champions at dropping the ball.
There you have it. A production worthy of Broadway... if you're into tragic comedies that is. Wiser from the ordeal, I say this: get your grub elsewhere. The only thing you'll find here is a one way ticket to the...
Read moreAnother chicken joint... yep, I said it. How many does this make now? Honestly, chicken is chicken, but how it is prepared and cooked makes a big difference. One place may simply marinate their chicken and the deep fry with flour, while others season the batter. If a piece of chicken is moist and tender, tastes like it should, and not like you trying to cover up soiled meat, then you're on to something. Season you batter, then fry. Simple salt and pepper works, but mixing it up does too. Just be careful. Now sauces... let's talk about sauce for the chicken, shall we? Everyone seems to have a take on hot mustard, buffalo, ranch, etc. Many even have their house sauce... let's be honest. Just because you like it doesn't mean everyone will. Try it or don't try it. That's on you. I always try house sauces, but I am the type that prefers tasting and enjoying the chicken without sauces. Slim Chickens has done that. They have chicken that can be enjoyed as chicken. It is tender, fresh, and juicy. Doesn't taste like it took a bath in diluted herb water, then dredged in boring white flour before being dropped in day old oil. Their chicken is good! I did try the house sauce, and it wasn't for me. The Mac & Cheese was creamy and hot. It didn't have a crust on top from sitting in a warmer all day. I added a little pepper and some fresh diced jalapeños to mine when I got home. I did go through the drive-thru, so I can't comment on the interior. The staff interaction was good as well. I will be going back, unlike some of the other places that recently have come to The Duke City. UPDATE: I and my family now frequent Slim Chickens. We've left satisfied each time. The locations we have been to all have been clean. The staff seems to enjoy working; they are courteous, respectful, and ready to help. I really enjoy the fried pickles with the cayenne ranch!❤️
Thank you, Slim Chickens, for coming to...
Read moreOrdered online and was given a pick up time for 1hr and 20, minutes later. No problem, I know they've just open and are very busy. I got to the restaurant at 7:20, and my order was supposed to be done at 7:30. 30 plus minutes after my order was supposed to be picked up and seeing others that order at the restaurant get their orders before me I ask how much long and was told they do not know. The gentleman who I assumed was the manager did offer me a refund but needed a physical card which I did not have on me and told me I could come back within a certain number of days for a refund but I decided to just wait because I noticed earlier my receipt said "closed" at the top so I didn't trust that I would be able to get a refund if I came back I told them I would just wait.
In my opinion their food isn't worth that long of a wait, it's "Mediocre at Best" The food wasn't even for me, I was just picking up for my husband. I gave 2 stars because the gentleman who I assumed was the a manager did try to assist me even though I might not have been the calmest person. I also gave 2 stars because I think they have a good atmosphere in there! I know they are new and very busy so I don't want to fault them for that. I hope they come up with a better system for their mobile orders. If you guys can tell people ordering in the restaurant it's a 30min -45min wait or 45min -1hr wait, I feel like you guys should be able to tell people with mobile orders and estimate of how long their...
