Day 1 – bed bound, hurting scared &, sad to be away from family. Our 88 year old little momma had to quarantine. Anyone would feel the same way to be alone with strangers & no family allowed to visit. We WERE COUNTING ON……….. The Suites Rio Vista core values: Compassion “Our patients deserve compassion in every interaction.” EXPERIENCE: Our patients have experiences that are positive, memorable, & shared. WELLNESS: Our first priority is the wellness of our patients.
She got put in a room with tv, telephone & clock NOT WORKING.( 1 lady was so nice &fixed the clock right away. ) It took hours to get the rest remedied. It may not have been important to them, but to our mom it meant some kind of normal. NO PITCHER OF WATER…. What???? She was admitted around 2:00 p.m. Called us at 8:00 p.m. She said she pressed the call button like 10 times & no one responded. Remember she is in quarantine & all alone unless SOMEONE came by, came in to check on her. Her confidence in the staff was already gone by that time. I called the nurses station, told whoever answered to please get her water. 20 minutes later I had to call back. FINALLY TOOK HER WATER 6 hours later. We took bottles of water daily to make sure she had water. Leaving a message with the administrator about the admission process on a patients 1st day. Do they set the patient up with on how to use the call button? The tv, the phone. Are they given water, tissue boxes? NO CALL BACK AT ALL. Went twice to speak to 2 nurses. Both seemed really annoyed & irritated that we asked questions & wanted to go over her medications. We started taking 4 hour shifts to sit outside her window till it got dark.. She felt so alone & scared. Honestly sometimes on my shift- no one even passed in the hall for those 4 hours. Needing the bathroom & pressing the call button over & over. I was there, I saw…No response, so I would call the nurses desk. Sometimes even the front desk to get someone in there. They said she keeps pooping in bed. Well heck no one came to help her. Bringing coffee from home in the morning, The weekend front desk lady would say…..” coffee AGAIN?” With a snarky look on her face. We were counting on……….. The Suites Rio Vista core values: Compassion “Our patients deserve compassion in every interaction.” Hmmmmmm not from her….. We asked the nurses to please check her sodium, & check for a UTI. OVER & over. She would call us soooo many times in the middle of the night because she was having a hard time, Or scared. She pressed the call button for a half hour with no response. We would have to call the nurses desk our selves. MOST TIMES THERE WAS NO ANSWER,,,, or whoever answered would say, the nurse was with another patient & would call us back. NEVER DID THEY CALL BACK. We would have to stay on the phone with her for hours some nights. After SEVERAL requests to check her sodium. They finally did & it was so dangerously low they had to send her to the hospital in an ambulance. She had low sodium & malnutrition. And yes a UTI.
At the hospital she WOULD CRY & BEG US NOT to send her back there, over & over & over. Every time she would be sleeping & wake up. She would cry & beg us. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL…… NO ones family member should be neglected & ignored .
Note: the Monday thru Thursday front desk lady Karen, was one who truly was compassionate & caring. The day our momma left there was a nurse there I hadn’t seen before. She on her last day was really sweet to my little momma. For this...
Read moreThere isn’t a single positive thing I can say about this place except that the receptionist. was so nice. Even she was disappointed over the holiday because they made her work some horrible hours. This was Christmas 2023. I waited a year to post this because it was so bad that I didn’t want to remember it. My father missed most meals while he was there. He lost 42 pounds in 2 months. There were often times he went without supper and breakfast. The nurses would just take the food away if he didn’t try it that was if he got food. He was so bad at one point he needed to be fed and no one bothered so I did it. The food staff was also rude. He would choose items from a supplemental menu because The standard menu was disgusting. Every time they brought him something it was unappetizing looking and it was cold. That poor man barely ate for two months. The staff was cold and and unaccommodating. He would go hours without them answering his bell. It got to the point where my dad would just start yelling because no one would help him. Then they yelled at him because he was yelling. It was a horrible situation and I’m so glad I got him out of there. The administration was absolutely uninterested with helping me with his care. They all looked at me like I had two heads and they just wanted to get me out of the meeting. I never did get an evaluation of my father’s health. They just pushed me out the door and that was the end. Do not put your family here. There is nothing positive about this place. Twice they put my Dad in a wheelchair and they just rolled him into a room and he stared at a wall. He kept asking me why they moved him into a room like that and I said because you’re sitting in this corner and no one talks to you and you don’t see a soul. They refused to put him in a chair. They refused to put him in a wheelchair. They refused to put him with other people. they would just roll him somewhere and not tell him what they were doing. He was so confused and so hurt that no one spoke to him and explained what was going on. It took three months for us to get a refund for the remainder of the month that he did not stay there. This place is a nightmare. Stay...
Read moreI would not recommend this facility. My Sister had a Knee Replacement on the 7th of February and was sent there to recover. She arrived early ( 1:30) in the afternoon on the 11th of February 2025. The CNA's Adrianna was the only Zillia Begay were the only two people that cared for my Sister properly. My Sister called me the next day at 11 AM asking me to come get her. The Licensed staffed had not given her pain meds. Also, they still had not brought a walker for my Sister to use the bathroom. I arrived at 1130. The Administrator was there in my Sister's room as well as the Speech and Physical Therapist. The PT said in their "Protocol" they had up to 3 days to evaluate for a walker. Was my Sister supposed to urinate in her bed? There wasn't a bedside commode provided. The Administrator threatened my Sister that if she left, she would not get home PT. No pain meds yet and the PT wanted to due a entire evaluation while my Sister was in pain. It was nearly 12 at this point. I asked the Speech Therapist and Administrator to leave. The PT supervisor came in with the same song about "Protocol". I asked them if they would want their Sister there nearly a day without a walker, once again we have up to three days to evaluate. I asked my Sister if she wanted a minute to reconsider. My Sister didn't trust them at this point and it was obvious that the care she received after this incident would easily be questionable in her eyes. We were both very distraught after being sent to a highly recommended Facility by Presbyterian Health Care. As we left the NP tried to explain "The Process". Too late at this point. We called my Sister's Surgeon and notified him of the lack of care the Licensed staff provided. I found out later (on the day of her arrival) that her supper arrived at 7 PM because she was a late arrival. The rest of the residents were fed at 5 PM....
