Sanducci's Trattoria — Restaurant in River Edge

Had an absolutely atrocious experience here on 4/7/25. I've been going through a lot and dealing with a lot of medical problems, so I came there with my friend because I really needed to get out and have a nice meal. Instead, we were treated like garbage from the second we walked in. We walked in at 8:30 pm, the hostess gave us dirty looks, looked at the clock, and said they close in half an hour, then asked if we had reservations. The place was completely empty except for one couple. We said no reservations... And didn't know if she wanted us to leave. It got very awkward and she said we would have to be quick. Um ok. If you don't want people coming in half an hour before closing, then lock your door.

She sat us and the server came, and again told us they are closing soon and we have to be quick. Ridiculous. We didn't even order any appetizers, just entrees. Our food came 20 minutes later and from that moment on, it was the worst dinner experience I've ever had. There were several other men besides our server and the hostess, and they ALL kept walking by and staring at us. I kept catching different people popping their heads out from the second floor and staring at us a ridiculous amount of times, the whole time we were eating. I've never felt more uncomfortable while trying to eat and it ruined everything. I couldn't even eat my food, I felt so horrible and anxious. We weren't even halfway done with our food, when suddenly the server came and brought us to-go boxes. It was the most horrible and shocking thing that ever happened to us at a restaurant. Then suddenly, the hostess came and started saying nasty things to me. I told her to stop talking to me but she continued to the point I had to yell at her and ended up crying. I even told her several times that she has no idea what I'm going through in my life and she needs to stop but she continued. Unbelievable. I posted a picture of the top of my receipt so you can see that we paid at 9:36. So we spent only 36 minutes there after closing, and this is the absolutely horrible treatment we received for it. Also, my food wasn't even good. I ordered the seafood paella and my clams were all chewy and inedible. The lobster was dry and tasteless. I used to get takeout from there a lot but now, I will never order from there or set foot in that place again. And I'll be sure to...

Well it’s New Year’s Eve. And we had to wait to be seated because one of our guests who has a baby was running late. They would not seat us til’ everyone was there. I think a big mistake. We were waiting in the doorway when we could have been seated and comfortable. And it went down hill from there. They stuffed 8 people in a corner where we obviously didn’t fit. (Extremely crowded for a pizza place. )On the upper level. To dark, 3 of our guests were using the lights on the phone to see a very dark menu. In a very dark atmosphere. The waitress never introduced herself, took the drink order and left. She came to the table like the job was killing her to be there. She wasn’t social, not friendly. Total lackluster for me. There’s no salad included, thought it was supposed to be to be a pizza place, that had salad and dessert? Well the prices are on the higher side, for just average food with very little flare. I know since Covid things are pricy, however New Year’s Eve should be in my opinion a special menu for a set price. With some things included. Then I wouldn’t mind 37.00 for seafood. One of our guests had a hair in her under cooked veggies. Didn’t find it til almost the end which is disappointing and disgusting to think you ate from that plate. Hard to see in such a dark setting. The waitress would not touch the plate. She had to get the manager. I did not eat this meal . My husband ate 1/2 of it . It was heavily breaded and dry chicken pounded to thin and cut open which turned me off. Supposed to be stuffed with asparagus which was raw and cut up in small pieces. Why would you cut it open? The manager did come over and apologized,she did take it off the bill. Crap happens I get it, perhaps servers should tie up their hair, to avoid this happening again. I don’t have long hair. And that hair was extremely long. So...

I was SO DISAPPOINTED!!!! The waitress was okay, but she seemed a little ditsy. Then there’s the food. For appetizers, we ordered the sweet calamari and garlic bread with Parmesan cheese. The calamari wasn’t sweet nor was the marinara sauce that came with it. When we asked the waitress about it she said “I think I put it in as sweet, let me double check” she checks and comes back and said “I asked and they said that there’s really no difference between sweet and regular” (so please tell me what’s the point of having it on the menu if there’s no difference). The garlic bread didn’t taste like garlic bread at all so we sent it back and got a new one. It tasted and looked like it was doused in oil and cooked with some garlic powder on top. Didn’t taste like garlic bread at all! My husbands actual meal was fine, however, my lasagna was DRENCHED in cheese so much so that you couldn’t even see the actual lasagna. A manager came over and asked if everything was okay and “is that the lasagna” I told her yes and I haven’t tried it yet, there’s a lot of cheese on it (if your staff can’t recognize the dishes you might have a problem) I finally took a bite and was so disappointed, there was essentially no flavor other than the cheese it was covered in and barely any meat in it. If I wanted a meal like that I would’ve just gone to a fast food place instead. Worst. Birthday...
