If you want something different, tasty, and filling; J's Casa Burger is the place! I've read several of the other reviews for this place. I decided to add my take as it seems that they either are all 5 star reviewers or negative Nellie's.
A Little History: J's is a converted Church's Chicken building into a small burger shack. J's ownership changed sometime in late 2023 or early 2024. Even though ownership changed, the staff remained relatively the same, and so has the food.
Working nearby has afforded me the opportunity to see how they prep their foods. The hamburgers are made fresh to order. The kitchen only uses fresh beef, never frozen. Much of the food is prepped the day before. The french fries are hand cut, the patties are a precooked weight of 1/3 pound, and the veggies are cut fresh (except pickles).
Pros: Fresh food, family run, and inexpensive compared to other family run burger spots.
Cons: runs out of foods/drinks, not always the cleanest place (but, they do clean daily), not fast delivery of food if you have a large order.
Take Away: This is your quintessential hole-in-the-wall burger spot. The food is cooked to order, and is hot. The fries are not overcooked crunchy slivers of potatoes, but are insteaf, big chunks of potatoes. Come hungry because the food is filling.
What to Order: I ā¤ļø their Double Cheeseburger with added Bacon, Fries, and Tea or Bottled Coke. Their most popular item is the Mexican Burger Combo with fries & a Coke. The menu does have chicken, wings, salad, and kids options.
Why I gave it five stars? There is nothing perfect in this world. However, the hamburgers at J's come as close to home cooked as I have ever eaten. Their fries five a new meaning to "an order of fries." And the staff make you feel like you eating at a family members house...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLiterally the best burgers I have ever had.
Edit: Man. My boyfriend and I love this place. It's literally the best burger place in Ft. Worth. We were actually one of the first few customers J's had when they first opened! But some of the employees at the R.O. location are bringing it down. We've consistently gotten bad tater tots and fries, and my boyfriend has received multiple wrong burgers that we've had to get corrected. We both work in customer service, so we know how stressful and confusing it can be. So, to help them out, we be sure fully articulate our orders very well, so as to not cause any confusion. And yet regardless of how easy we make it, they almost always get our orders wrong. The last maybe 6-7 times we've gotten food, something has been wrong. Now, going to the employees themselves. I'm not sure if the phone at the store works or not, but it's almost never answered. We call every time we get a wrong order and they've only answered it once or twice. I'm not talking about the cooks - we've never gotten a gross burger, just wrong (such as: my boyfriend only likes a double meat with cheese and mayo, and it's literally wrong every time, either a single meat, or no cheese, or no mayo) and they've all been delicious, the tater tots and fries are what's wrong. This is nothing against Jay himself. We've both met him and he's a really great and nice guy. But, man, some of his employees need some work. Sorry, Jay. I really didn't want to leave this review but it's been like 8 consistent times now and we're really...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreClassic don't judge pick by its cover or maybe do because this is just a little shack in river oaks which could be horrible but in this case was better than expected. First and foremost good burger good size good flavor good cook. I had the casa burger which was big mac-esque but with bacon and better of course. The bun held up well but was just a little sweet I think although it could have just been the burger sauce which was also a little on the sweet side. I don't know why but existed a greasy but this was not at all. All the ingredients also seemed fresh and although the burger was made to order it arrived quickly with a few orders ahead of me. The counter staff where fantastic helpful, informative, and super nice thanks. The tots where good but just tots I'll try the wedges next time even though I'm not a wedge steak fry guy I'm curious. Definitely will go back good variety in the menu burgers plus some other stuff. Not least important have to mention the price all the burgers were under 10 bucks now a days that's pretty rare. Overall pleasantly surprised and glad to have another good burger stop...
