As fans of Mexican food who live local we wanted to try a mew place and support local. We were disappointed from beginning to end. The food took so long to come out and we were with our kid. We were waiting about 30 minutes (there were not a lot of people there and they didn’t appear to be doing too much takeout). Then the waiter said the cook made a mistake with our dishes (how both?) and it would be longer. We finally got our food 15 minutes later.
We had been waiting so long for all our food (appetizers included) that by this time our kid was done and we had to get to-go boxes for both of our entire entrees.
As I was packing up I asked for the manager. She came out and I explained what happened and how we are local and it was our first time here and we were really disappointed. Her response was to get me a plastic bag to put our food in. Barely an apology and no offer to do anything to give us a reason to come back.
On top of this our table was never cleared of any plates or cups we were done with unless we asked. We asked for beer glasses and the waiter gave us two glasses full of ice (?). We eventually got regular glasses but had to leave full beers there when we left because the meal had taken so long.
Lastly, they charge a 3.5% surcharge for using a credit card. This is without any notice whatsoever and just appears on your bill after you give them your card.
Overall, extremely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend. Quinta de Reyes and Cinco de Mayo are both close and much better so no need to try...
Read moreI wanted to give them a good review so bad but, They lacked authenticity and taste while presenting it well. If I could give them 3 and a half I would… While everything was beautifully plated and the setting was really nice, the food was bland and could really use seasoning. Best part of the whole meal was the fried rice which had the appearance of a Chinese fried rice but reminded me of my mother and aunts rice growing up.(I’m Puerto Rican) I waited about 10 months since their subtle grand opewheg to eat here because I figured Id give them time to work out the kinks… the tacos had barely any taste aside from what was actually in it but I expect some sort of authenticity to them. I’ve had better off of food trucks in NYC. I’m not trying to bash them because they were extremely friendly and not as discriminative as I’m used to dining in places in these areas. So the 3 stars was for the setting and presentation the half of the star would’ve been because they were nice but the taste of the food is almost half the battle if not more.
Ps the fried ice cream was good but nothing new or Mexican for...
Read moreOrdered takeout. Picked up order, and there was one couple sitting in the restaurant ( my point is, they weren’t busy, although, to be fair, they may have had a lot of takeout orders). Fajitas did not have tortillas, and we didn’t realize it until we got home. Also ordered the Camarones ala Mexicana. Portion was ridiculously, I mean ridiculously small. There were only 5 shrimp, probably U-20-25 size, and they were obviously frozen. For 24.95, I felt I was ripped off enough, to call the restaurant, and tell them how disappointed I was. The response I received from the manager was “our prices are our prices”. When I told her about the missing tortillas, her reply was “ I’m sorry that happened”. No effort was made to correct the mistake. I simply told her that I’d like a Mexican restaurant to succeed, but they most likely won’t, unless they provide adequate portions at reasonable prices. On the other hand, the shrimp dish was pretty good, considering the small portion, and high price. I recently had the same dish in Florida, and counted 17 shrimp of a similar size,...
