I heard alot of good things about this place, so I've been on a sushi kick lately I thought I see whats up.
I went in to be seated and the waitress took my drink order. She seemed bewildered when I just ordered a seltzer to start off. I didnt think any of it, and figured shes just having long night. The first thing i notced about the interior of Mr. Sushi is its cozy atmosphere its nice small simple, customer's should feel at ease when dining here.
So, As I settle in I noticed it took a little to long to get a glass of seltzer and the waitress even spilled it on the table which got on me its all good its just water carbonated. She cleaned it up when I mentioned it and took my order. I order the Superman roll for $12 and change, which consists of tuna eel and salmon never tried eel before so I was excited.
I actually meal comes and quicker the my drinks and is served in and dish draped in dipping sauces in the shape of the S shield Superman is known to don pretty cool imo.
As I begin to taste my meal. The my first thoughts and impression is "its... okay" all these years I been hearing talk of the infamous Mr. Sushi "Dude you gotta try Mr. Sushi!" "Hey have tried to this place, call Mr Sushi by Mac's?"
I admit I'm Intrigued but I also admit its hyped up a bit by talk and sadly talk is cheap. The flavor was average the service was okay, the atmosphere, was quiet cozy.
To me that tally runs up to average for Mr Sushi. If like that then this is the spot for you. If you dont then you'll find a joint for sushi...
Read moreIf you love "hole-in-wall" hidden treasures, and want great quality sushi, you have to check this place out. It's tight with around 8 tables/booths and bar seating for 4-5, but it's the BEST sushi we've found in the area. And we search. We have never been disappointed by the quality, and we have enjoyed take-out, delivery, and eat in on too many occasions. Rolls you HAVE to try include: Crazy Dragon, Valentines, Pompton Special. Also admire the amazing presentation of the Superman, Spider and Dynamite rolls! Everything is made with superb care and skill. Monthly special rolls are always interesting, unique and worth a try!
Delivery and take-out sushi is a tough thing to pull off, but the staff and cooks are wonderful and quick. They seem to do a lot of business this way and are busy most week nights. We bring everyone there, and they have even hosted our large party of 10 for lunch with a reservation. One downfall is they are closed on Sundays.
If you are going to be Pompton Lakes and only have time to stop at one...
Read moreMy wife and I are very easy going having to be in the restaurant industry ourselves. Both being server and bartenders, and I have to say this was one of the most disappointing visits we’ve have had in a long time. Food came out in a timely manner, however smelled awful and fishy smell. The server never checked on us to see if the food came out correctly and to our liking. We were finished eating for about 15 mins when I asked our server for a box and the check I was told “sorry I clocked out already the other girl will help you”. That would’ve been nice granted we were already done waiting for a box and the check before she had clocked out. The clocked out waitress still walked to the back and got herself food and what not, while we were just waiting to pay and leave. I have never been one to complain but that was just god awful service, definitely the last time we would be dining there. We’ll just be looking for a new sushi spot...
