Golden Crown Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Riverdale

My husband and I ordered some chicken fried rice and General Tso's chicken for dinner last night (on 8-31-17) from the Golden Crown Chinese Restaurant on Riverdale Road in Atlanta, GA for delivery while we were visiting the College Park area.

I should note that several events were going on in the area, including Dragon Con. Our hotel was approximately 2.3 miles away from the restaurant. We were given an estimate of 45 minutes to an hour.

Ultimately, it took over two hours for the food to be delivered, and it was not very good. The food was still warm, and the portion sizes were great, but the flavors were bland. The chicken in my fried rice was odd-looking and dry. So I started picking it out. The fried rice was edible, but it was still disappointing. My husband's meal was about the same quality. It was particularly sad knowing that was the only meal my husband had yesterday.

After waiting about an hour and 50 minutes, I did call the restaurant to check on the status. Staff was respectful and courteous.

The prices would have been reasonable if the food were better.

However, we don't plan to order...

I went in Friday, 10th of Aug 2018. I ordered the sizzling rice soup. Unfortunate for me I had to order enough for two as the minimum order. Really wanting the soup to start, it arrived, but not sizzling. I figured o'well, it's just not fresh. As I proceeded to take the first spoonful, I noticed some of the rice was hard and I took it out of my mouth. Having great Asian restaurants in the West coast I took a chance.

Now, paying closer attention, I noticed small black pieces of something. 2 baby roaches , easily identified, but small. Babies for sure. I called the waitress over and she shows the waiter. Some words were exchanged in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese of course) and the waiter rushed over and only asked, can I get you anything else????? Really!? No apologies, no nothing!

I got up and left after disbelief that thT just happened, walking out, spitting up the one spoonful of soup I did have. This was the second restaurant that week roaches were sighted... such terrible by business cleaning practices. I ended my before flight meal at Olive garden. Which I haven't patronized one in...

Good egg foo young. Been eating there for years out of emergency and desperation and the one dish i can count on is their egg foo young. The ribs would be better if they were thoroughly cooked and tender. I usually pan grill theirs before i serve them.. The fried rice is flat and tasteless and the chicken wings are cocktail size and rock hard. I'm from New York Chicken wings and fried rice are a fast food staple on every other block in New York and I've had good "chicken wing fried rice". i am however wildly relieved the owners child no longer terrorizes the waiting room harassing customers. If that little boy crashed his toys into mine or anyone else's ankles one more time....smhoaoaoa The new order taker is loud, abrasive over the phone and is equally impossible to understand in person... and I grew up in southeast Asia. I'd sooner travel to Fayetteville or East Point but yesterday was a necessity that I won't likely have for...
