Dulce Mami Café — Restaurant in Riverside Township

My experience at this café was a nightmare around the morning. I met up with my cousin to have brunch at this establishment coming in. We were told that there was going to be a 20 to 30 minute wait time that being said we had no problem waiting 20 to 30 minutes to get a A table for two we put our phone number down and her name. The lady said we should be receiving a text for a reservation. Mind you it several minutes for us to get attended to get a reservation and they weren’t busy at all. She was on her phone most of the time and we were just standing waiting to get serviced and get a table. There was other tables open but we thought those were already reserved for other people so we didn’t think too much about it. We waited the 20 to 30 minute wait in our cars fast-forward into 40 minutes we called the establishment and they would not pick up the phone. We called six times and at last called, somebody did pick up and immediately hung up so we decided to go in the lady who took care of us had a nasty attitude with us. She was the cashier working in the morning again it took several minutes for us to get a table and to get seated, we got sat down, and the tables and chairs were not even clean. She had to come back minutes later to clean them for us while there was other tables that were clean and she decided to give us the one that was not ready. It was very unprofessional no excuse because at this point there is only six tables that were being used so it wasn’t that busy. She looked very unmotivated. Very rude and disrespectful for sure. Not a happy experience for both of us , our food did come out fast. However, our checkout experience was also very slow. We asked for boxes to go and it took 20+ minutes for us to get the check and get our boxes. Our whole experience was very disappointing. We’ve gone to other locations like the one in Cicero and the service there cannot compare to this one. Very poor customer...

I stopped by Dulce Mami Café for a quick client meeting and was instantly charmed. Though I didn’t get a chance to eat, I tried their signature Dulce Mami hot chocolate and it did not disappoint. Rich in flavor and beautifully presented, it came topped with colorful mini marshmallows, whipped cream, a crisp wafer cookie, and a chocolate-dipped wafer rim that added an extra touch of fun and flair.

The café itself has a super cute, aesthetic vibe with two spacious rooms, plenty of seating, and a family-friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re stopping in solo or bringing the whole crew, it’s the perfect setting for any occasion.

While I only had the hot chocolate, browsing their menu had me ready to return—crepes, paninis, soups, salads, and loaded nachos… there’s truly something for everyone. The staff was warm and welcoming, and I love that they have multiple locations, including one in Chicago and other nearby suburbs.

Located at 1 N Riverside, the neighborhood is absolutely lovely and walkable. Whether you’re looking for a cute brunch spot, a cozy breakfast hangout, or a light lunch followed by a stroll, Dulce Mami Café is a must-visit. Even the name is sweet—and it perfectly matches the vibe inside.

I really wanted to like this place, especially since Riverside is such a charming town with limited coffee options — but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing.

I visited with my husband and ordered two simple drinks to go: a coffee and a matcha latte. We ended up waiting over 40 minutes. One staff member was in and out, seemingly more focused on eating than helping customers, while the other was overwhelmed and unsure of how to handle the line, prioritizing only those who complained first.

When we politely asked for a refund (before even receiving our drinks), we were told the manager would be there in five minutes. Ten minutes later — no manager, no refund, no update. In the end, our drinks were finally handed to us almost 50 minutes after placing our order.

To make things worse, the drinks were poor quality. The coffee was watery, and the matcha tasted like it barely had any matcha in it at all.

Sadly, this isn't the first time I've had long waits and disappointing service here, but I kept trying to give it another chance. It's frustrating that such a cute town doesn’t have better options for quality...
