Not a good place to take food deliveries from. As a driver, I entered this establishment to receive an order for a customer of Chew Chew. Upon entering I was approached by a bartender who greeted me. She was very kind in doing so. I requested the order and she told me in 5 minutes that order would be ready, while walk back to the kitchen and returning to confirm that order would be ready in 5 minutes. I waited, when after about 10 minutes I was approached again by the man behind the register. He informed me that order would take another few minutes. I replied fine. Thank you. 20 minutes into waiting for this order that was already late. I walked up to the man and informed him that I was late. He then became very rude with me. Telling me I don't have to wait. ( When I have his customer's order I need to deliver. ) He then informed me that his paying customers are priority. ( Even though this customer had already paid her bill at $110. ) I then informed him that I would inform this customer what he told me. ( This is part of my contract with Doordash. ) At that point he threatened me with, "Well I can also rate you as well. Walking back to the kitchen returning with the customer's order. I then left. I have filed a complaint with Doordash on this case and will never suggest to and other platform that this is a trustworthy establishment to receive orders from. Nor any customer to make online orders. Because he does not find those orders as important as those orders made within the walls of his establishment. Even though they are paid in advance. Shame on this man. There was no scene made by me. I stood quietly with my daughter next to the front door as customers were coming in the door. I also notice there was no social distancing. The bar was elbow to elbow as well as by the entrance to this restaurant. I understand it's my word against the owner. But I also know there are some honest people in thos world that have discernment and can decipher truth from lies. It's up to the customer to decide the truth here. I'm sure that those who noticed my daughter and I standing by the door and also noticed we were both very quiet as we waited. Even upon when I finally, 20 minutes into waiting, asked when the customer's order would be ready and before I could finish my next words, the man snapped at me with an...
Read moreWhile I live in La Grange, for years I’ve read the great reviews and wanted to try Chew chew. Having carried out dinner this evening I now realize I am done myself a great disservice not coming here years before. In short, this has immediately vaulted to one of my favorite restaurants after just one meal. I believe the sign of a GREAT restaurant is diversity but honestly I would order just about everything on this amazing menu. Highlights of the meal tonight : dates wrapped with thick bacon; best French onion soup ever; killer home baked bread; excellent wedge salad ; penne with chicken and smoked Gouda was creamy, delicious and not too heavy. Ice Cream Boulder was a great finishing touch. Nice variety of interesting cocktails and wines by the glass
The unique combination of highest quality ingredients, great flavor combinations, very generous portions and reasonable price points will bring us back many times. Looking forward to trying the classic favorites and new items added to upcoming new Spring menu. Given the abundance of excellent reviews and loyal following, they certainly don’t need another positive review from me but I it was such a delightful experience I couldn’t help myself. Just go there for a great...
Read moreThe Chew Chew is hands-down the best restaurant in Riverside. They prepare their meals with the masterful culinary expertise that you might expect from an expensive 5-star restaurant in downtown Chicago, but without the steep price tag and in a much more comfortable, semi-casual atmosphere. If you’re not located in Riverside or the surrounding area, the Chew Chew is certainly worth the drive in. The waitstaff are excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, and personable but with none of the high-brow snootiness you’d expect from a restaurant that knows exactly how to prepare the perfect scallop. The Chew Chew has daily specials and a wide variety of beer, wine, and house made cocktails and most nights the owner greets you at the front door. We’ve tried a ton of items on the menu here, but most highly recommend the scallops + risotto, gemelli + smoked Gouda, baked onion soup, and flourless chocolate cake. You truly can’t go wrong with this place. If you’re hungry during the day before The Chew Chew opens, head next store to their sister restaurant The Saw Milly for the best sandwiches...
