My sweetheart and I were starving one morning, so we stopped at this obscure little place to drive through. As we pulled in to the lot, we decided to dine in. We usually opt out as small, popular places tend be crowded or unkempt. There was plenty of parking in the lot. Castaneda's dining hall was clean and just busy enough. It's a simple, no frills place, but with clean, bistro and regular seating available, including a salsa bar and a refill soda station. They have 5 different types of salsas with various other condiments and toppings. I must say, this is the first time this Mexican foodie has ever been to a Mexican fast food establishment where all the salsas were delicious. Generally, at least one or two of the salsas will seem unpalatable, but each of these are unbelievably delicious. Note to our Mexican-food lovers: there is an art to pairing salsas with food. It's like fine wine and meal pairing. "Any wine" will not pair with "any dish". Ask the restauranteur to recommend a salsa for your dish, if needed. Leave the chipotle, deep red salsas for fish dishes. Use light, chunky, fresh salsas for meat dishes. Use avocado and green salsas on egg dishes. These salsas are diverse enough that you'll find just the right one for your meal. The veteran staff are friendly and the young staff are focused on their work. We tried the Mexican breakfast burrito filled with rice, beans, chorizo, cheese and egg. It is large in size and pairs nicely with the fresh salsa. The menudo was also delicious. They included hominy in their menudo, which adds a hearty touch not generally available in other menudo recipes. Don't forget to add the lime at the salsa bar to your menudo. It was also nice to see the amount of Doordash business that this restaurant generates. I can see myself ordering through Doordash without breaking the bank. Overall, prices are reasonable and not overpriced. I left satisfied by the dining experience. Muchísimas gracias por todo...

Every time i eat here its always something new. either its missing food, roaches falling from the ceiling or now its hair in the food... i ordered carne asada fries and to my not so surprise, a hair or two. they refused to give our money back and were extremely rude. this is and will be the very last time i will come and eat here. Management is never to be found and no-one will own up to there mistakes. This franchise / restaurant is a complete joke. they seriously need a NEW CREW and a fumigation. its horrible that the last couple of times I've been here that nothing gets fixed... TO THE OWNER WHO IS READING THIS. I WILL MAKE PERFECTLY SURE THAT YOU GET AUDITED AND INSPECTIONS!!! YOUR CREW and RESTAURANT NEED HELP!!! IMMEDIATELY

the ownly reason this review has 1 star is because i cant give it a 0...

PEOPLE PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE. THINK ABOUT THIS

HAIR In your FOOD AND ROACHES FALLING FROM THE CEILING INTO YOUR FOOD OR LAPS.... THIS IS...

Love your food but need to list that their pico on their items on any delivery app out there, and im curious if they forgot the lime with the menudo or there was a shortage of lime..... the one in Victorville is 1000 times better..... there isnt enough spices in the menudo from this particular location and its leaves you wanting what its lacking... actually disappointed in this location....

Never again will i go to this location.... it actualy tastes like cheep imitation mexican food..... atleast Victorville tasted like my Grandmother's food... menudo tripe was partially cleaned.... I do not recommend this place to any one Non edible food... disapointed waisted 30+ $ in cash that could be spent else where n gotten good food

I STOPPED coming to Castanedas in riverside and would always take a mission to go to the one in Hemet. 1st time was because the carne asada fries i had ordered which was POOORLY situated in my togo box&then the girl at the window was getting all cuddled on through the food window by the cook. THIS go roun, i TRIED giving a 2nd chance and my carne asada tacos have soo much damn cilantro on them the food doesn't even look appetizing not to mention i asked for everything (pico de guao, sour cream, etc) the WORKS. NEVER again will i be going back to this location. I should have stuck with my intuition and drove out to Hemet where i know i'd get a bang for the money i spent on this trash.

Good place to go to anytime. My negative rant is I came in around 1:30a and my friend ordered a plate with rice and beans. I then wanted to order a veggie taco and the cashier asked the chump change cook wearing red shirt and black hat if they had more beans and he said no. I already know why he said no. Another loser in life with a crappy attitude. I highly suggest anyone who works in hospitality or food industry, if you don't like your job don't work there. Your little attitude makes the establishment lose money and therefore you lose hours and money. And you won't have people like me writing horrible reviews. Be better in life seriously 😒.
