Handels Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Riverside

I’ve never heard of handels until a couple weeks ago and i think where they put the location is perfect!! i’m in riverside so it’s super close and i haven’t found an ice cream spot besides dairy queen that i really like. havens is different and i heard they rotate their flavors monthly too!! idk any other place that does that!! yes there’s flavors i don’t really like but that’s based on personal preference that doesn’t need to dictate one’s review. everyone’s not gonna like something. some people won’t like certain flavors, or prices (which yes it is a little more on the price side but what do u expect in the economy we are in? if you complain about pricing go to rite aid next door to get your cheap ice cream lol. I personally don’t mind spending the money on ice cream when i want some GOOODDDD ice cream. handels has that!) And some people won’t like the lines. I know the lines have been a lot recently but then again, cmon people! give this company a break! they just opened and of course it’s gonna be packed!! idk how many locations this place has but i’m sure they’re training new people and they’ve only been open less a month. stop complaining about the lines because anywhere that’s new in riverside gets lines down the street. Anyways, personally i love graham central station, mud pie, and strawberry cheesecake! cant wait to keep trying new flavors, and keep up the good work. 🙌🏻 for those of you wondering if u should try this place, please look at the good reviews that give you actual common sense. the reviews about the overall experience, ice creams and stuff like that. the whiny people that complain about ice cream melting (which hello it’s summer and it’s hot… ice cream melts…) should be ignored. Know, yes their prices are different than others… however they make their ice creams in house, change them monthly, and u can sample whatever u want for free anytime u come. choose which people u want to listen to online. Or better yet, come see for yourself!! 🤣🤣😄 I found going earlier in the day like before 3 is the best because not too many people are out, if u go 7-closing you’ll be waiting around the corner but usually they have many windows open so it doesn’t feel too...

I finally visited Handles homemade ice cream after hearing so much about it — lines out the door, social media buzz, glowing reviews. Naturally, I was curious to see what all the fuss was about. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype. The ice cream was... fine. Not bad, not amazing — just alright. The flavors lacked depth, and the texture wasn’t anything special. I’ve had better from grocery store pints, to be completely honest. But what surprised me most was how average everything felt, despite the crowd acting like it was some groundbreaking dessert experience. What this place really offers is more spectacle than substance. It’s the kind of spot people flock to for Instagram pictures and the illusion of being in-the-know. The long lines don’t reflect quality — they reflect a trend. And if this is what passes as “incredible” ice cream these days, it says more about people's taste than the product itself. It's Friday night and there's only 2 employees working the place? One employee is busting her ass to take care of all the customers waiting in line and the other guy, is taking care of online orders but is moving at a snails pace and barely lifting a finger to help his coworker out. The manager who scheduled this shift honestly needs to be written up and coached because how could they let a popular ice cream establishment that's near a bar and a grocery store with only 2 employees on a Friday night?? like come on seriously that is absolutely ridiculous how management allowed this store to be this short staffed. Tips better not be shared because the girl who was serving the in person line was working so hard to get everyone's orders completed in a timely manner where the other guy just watched her outperform him tenfold.
