If you love Mexican plates and Japanese sushi, then you'll love Sushingon. We do not go anywhere else but here for sushi. Transitional places offer smaller portion sizes and, often strange or dull sushi options for the same price or more. Sushingon's sushi options are your traditional favorites (Volcano, Caterpillar, Spider, Crab, etc) to original Mexican favorites that are either creamy, crunchy or tempura'd. The sauces are plenty and the well balanced in flavor. You might order to share but it's never enough. Order spicy and non-spicy to enjoy a balanced of both options. This is a excellent sushi. They also have a full Mexican menu with Crab-stuffed Jalapeños to Marlin tacos. Both are delicious. Their Campechana shrimp and octopus cocktail is fresh and satisfying. Their Camarones a la Sushingon has the smoothest guajillo sauce I've tasted. I had to finish every drop. Portions are satisfying and generous. The Michelada here HUGE and offered with 1, 2 or 3 beers on top. We will only have Micheladas here because no one else rises to the occasion. We are absolutely very satisfied customers. Get rid of your sushi bias and cross the street. You won't regret it having a better sushi experience with pleasant Mexican music in the background. If you prefer a bar, there's one with plenty of TVs all around. Social distancing is maintained and tables are...
Read moreMy husband and I recently tried out this place since we have a deep love for sushi. We loved the rolls we tried, and the drinks were really good too. It was pretty evident that this restaurant was family own and that's great since we believe you should support local small business, but for them this also meant that service wasn't as quickly or as good as it should, our waitress was really nice but seem very shy with lack of experience, she didn't make any recommendations on the menu for us despite the fact that we told her it was our first time here. I'm pretty sure they will be getting lots of new clients since this place is relatively new, and it's up to them to keep this clients as regulars, by improving their service and making it more welcoming and inviting. Waiter/waitress should always welcome new clients and ask how they heard about them, offer to help with the menu and make recommendations based on clients preferences. Also I think they should implement a few specials on the weekdays considering they have a very well-established all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant right across the street, our bill was almost $60 for two people for about 4...
Read moreMaybe this place is just too new to have their stuff dialed in... Maybe we came at the worse time? I was excited as this place is only a mile walk from home and gawd knows we need awesome sushi places in RIV. Well, here's my beef...we got our Goyza before our beers. You want content customers? Bring them the drinks! I thought we were supposed to get chips and salsa... I may have been mistaken though. Our bill was returned to us crumpled up and not in that bill holder thing, and with no pen... We did not want to be pesky, again. When you have to ask for several things (your drinks and eating utensils) you don't want to keep asking. The waitress was nice though. There were only 3 tables of people when we arrived. The roll, we got the El Sushingon. It was fancy. The menu has mostly rolls that are CAroll based, not my thing. Not sure if if I will be back to try the Mexican food based on the off service. Maybe the waitress was really green?... Maybe we will be back after a year or so when things are in order. Also, my suggestion is this, make sake fusion drinks! Good luck getting established, I realize it's not easy, but it's a crucial...
