Uncle D's Take-Out — Restaurant in Roanoke

If you want authentic, down home, southern food THIS IS THE SPOT! We just got home with 4 platters including the meatloaf, chicken tenders, pot roast, and chicken with dumplings. Everything was SUPERB. Excellent flavor with good texture. All of the sides were fantastic (we got the corn, Mac and cheese, green beans, mashed potatoes, and sweet potato tots). It's like eating out of your grandmother's kitchen when you were a kid. Service was fast and the staff were kind. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an example of proper southern cooking. We will definitely be regulars here moving forward, especially when we're running late getting home to throw together a family meal, which was our case tonight. Stopped in today for the first time. Food was really good. I am a junky for a good burger and some hushpuppies!. They had a BIG sign about their various Wagyu Beef burgers so I thought why not, lets see how they are. The ONLY reason I am giving a 4 is solely for my preference for the burger. If I could give a 4.5 I would. While it was good, I am not a huge fan of a preformed patty, no matter they type of meat. Seems to hold extra grease in there or something and not quite as flavorful as ground beef that is seasoned and pattied out by hand.. I could be wrong on the patty, but I dont think I am. Hushpuppies were on point and you get around 10 of them! I am definitely going to try many more items off the menu. Staff was very nice. Spot...

When I first heard about Uncle D's, I was in an office and they were bragging about it. I cater a lot of meals for offices and I thought, man I really need to try this place out. Fast forward 2 1/2 years later, I am still using them for catering. I also eat there personally. Over that time, I have got to know Dan and his work ethic. I can't tell you how great of a job Dan does. He bends over backwards for his customers, the food is always delicious, and the offices I host are always grateful and comment how good it is. I have done everything from hamburgers, catfish, salads, lasagna, meatloaf to chicken and every side he offers. It never disappoints! My only regret is not putting this review on here...
