Phenomenal concept for a winery in Texas. Annette is loyal to great Texas wines, but also has a tremendous selection of non-Texas wines (California, the Northwest, etc).. For wine lovers, it is a no judgement zone: drink what you like, and Annette will help you find what that is. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. She ensures everyone is comfortable and getting the wines that they are seeking. On our last visit, I ordered a glass of wine that Annette recognized had not been served recently. She quickly tasted and pulled my glass back stating ti was not up to the quality she wanted to achieve.She ended up tossing $20 of wine because it did not meet her standards. This is a hidden gem in Roanoke. Very chill place to relax and enjoy wine and some good food. I always enjoy stopping by to visit and grab a flatbread. I'm never been much of a wine drinker because I have limited knowledge and am a little intimidated (that's my personal problem). Wine:30 has many wine tasting events where I have learned more about wine and developed some confidence. Plus, it's been really fun. When you walk in, the décor really gives off an ice-cream shop feel, so that throws you off. The wines they offer - no thanks. It was pretty much all Texas and some California (Napa and Sonoma). The two we ordered were very blah (I couldn't even finish mine it was that bad). Then when sitting at the counter, you could see they had a date marked on a white wine in their chiller that had been opened on 12/16. Let me reiterate that - a white wine that was opened in December, that they were still pouring 2 weeks into January. I can't believe that they were not embarrassed to be serving that.
