CK Diggs — Restaurant in Rochester Hills

The best way to summarize my multiple CK Diggs experiences over years of small and large parties and going on different times and days is "It's always something".

I've lived quite close to CK Diggs for 12 years now, and I really wish I could go there more often as I usually like the food and my kids enjoy it there. My friends and family sometimes want to go because its close by. But man. Every time I go there's something dumb that happens that doesn't happen other places that just makes the experience less than it should be. Every. Single. Time.

Sometimes they say they have a beer on tap, but they're out. Actually most of the time, and as my wife and I enjoy trying particular beers this can be very frustrating. This is not an issue we have at similar local establishments. For this reason we've stopped going there entirely for just a drink. If we get invited there by others we suggest somewhere else.

Today's issue was that they advertised a particular burger for an $8 local special. Cool! My wife ordered it and rolled her eyes when it came out without fries. Like, of course CK Diggs was gonna do something silly like that, which btw was NOT noted on the promotional flyer on the table. Whatever, I asked if it was supposed to come with fries, the waiter said "yes" and brought some. And then the bill comes and its an upcharge. sigh Always something.

Anyway, next time someone invites me there I'm just saying NO. No need to frustrate myself with being nickel and dimed or whatever other ridiculous thing they consistently can't handle. I can write off things here and there as they happen everywhere, but similar issues happening consistently years apart? Clearly a management/ownership issue that's not going to...

Edit:* After writing this review the owner reached out to me via email and offered to send me a gift certificate. He also spoke with the bartender and addressed the issue at hand. I gave it a 4 star rating because today was the first time I’ve had a issue. Every time I go here the food is excellent, the waitresses and waiters were all great and friendly as well ! Today I ordered a to go order and prepaid over the phone. The bartender took the call and order and also dealt with me when I came to pick it up. My husband went in to get our order and the bartender was very rude while telling him my card was denied. I came in to fix the problem. I asked if he could simply try again because the numbers must have been entered in incorrect. I have a virtual card on my phone. It’s not a physical credit card. He said he never heard of one. I showed him the card on my phone. He finally ran the numbers again and it went through. The entire time he was loud enough for everyone at the bar to hear , as if he was trying to embarrass me. Mixed reviews from our visit. The food was alright, but depends on what you order, do nothing spectacular. The CK burger was good & Thai pizza, but that may be about it that we liked. Perch was alright. Service was terrible. We walk in, and wait at the wait to be seated sign. We are standing there for like 10 minutes with the hostess & other waitress staff just kept looking back at us. None ever approached us, until one girl walked up & asked us what we were doing and if we wanted a table?!? So was just a little odd, but we got past that and pretended that never happened. The service never really got any better though from there, but not sure if they just had a lot of new waitresses that needed training possibly, so we will have to try agsin maybe when they aren't so busy next time. Very slow overall & waitresses were really confused and told us they didnt have french fries, but we could see them at sll the tables that the wsitress just brought out, so it was really bizarre, but I think maybe just new staff probably.
