True Smoke BBQ — Restaurant in Rochester

All I can tell you is that it's worth the drive! I'm extremely sad I do not live closer. This would be my go-to place for smoked meats. This little hole in the wall grill and pub is a diamond in the rough! My mother joined my son and I for an early Father's Day lunch. My son had the Nachos, which he greatly enjoyed! They aren't the best in the Rochester area, but they're in the top 10. However, the Brisket Special was AMAZING! My mother had never before had brisket, I fear I may have now set her expectations too high. CLEARLY the best brisket in southern Minnesota, hands down. This might be the best brisket I've ever had, anywhere. They have the right amount and flavor of smokiness. The rub has an amazingly rich, sweet, and slightly tangy seasoning. They were smoked perfectly tender and just melted in your mouth. Along with these I had the French Fries and the Pub Spuds. The fries were perfect, just absolutely perfect! The crisp golden exterior at the perfect temperature, seasoning, and soft interior texture were without a doubt the best fries I've had. I couldn't stop eating them. And the Pub Spuds were even better! I believe they had the same seasoning that was used as the rub for the brisket. These soft seasoned potatoes with cheese and onion are simply unmatched and unique. These alone are worth the trip. I WILL be back. I am very excited to have the ribs next time I go. Don't sleep on this place, it's definitely...

Amazing BBQ - 5 Star! Smokes the competition! The very best in Rochester by far.

We would love to see all the BBQ restaurants here in Rochester have a BBQ competition for Brisket and Ribs. True Smoke would be the undisputed winner. Besides all the great BBQ, they have delicious sides and amazing sauces. We look forward to being able to purchase the sauce in bottles! Hopefully this summer you will have these available.

Most important to note, True Smoke is very active in helping to provide lunches to feed hungry children in our community that do not have access to three meals a day. This was our first time trying out True Smoke BBQ. I guess the food tastes fine. The service was awful though. We placed our order 2 hours early online. When we arrived, they had not even started on it and they were out of the meat we had ordered. I get that it happens but we placed the order and paid for that it hours ago to make sure we got the one we wanted. They could have at least called to let us know they did not have it so we could decide what we wanted to do. It took them a long time to get our order together and we had to ask for corrections several times. They also kept trying to add our food to someone else's order.
