The atmosphere of this place is great. It's so spacious inside, that even if every seat were filled, it still wouldn't feel cramped. On that note, there are SO many options for seating. There are some armchairs arranged in a circle, that are extremely comfortable (and there's even a fireplace next to them, for the winter months), and there are also lots of wooden chairs as well as cushioned benches, with different tables at different heights. The lighting is EXCELLENT, because the windows are plentiful and expansive, so you get a ton of natural sunlight. There is also a nice patio out front, with large umbrellas, for the days with nicer weather.
The music is nice, too--and when I say "nice," I mean that it's not too loud/intrusive. For example, I used to like to get coffee at Panera, but the music there was so aggressive and overwhelming that I just can't take it anymore.
In my experience, the baristas have always been very friendly, and the drinks have always been served on time. The manager is really chill and helpful.
It's the perfect place to "set up camp" and get some work done (whether it's homework or paperwork or whatever), because the tables are nice and roomy, too. You can really spread out your books/papers and write comfortably. Additionally, there are SO many electrical outlets for both plugs and USBs. It's honestly just perfect.
This would totally be a 5 star review, except for one thing: the internet here is not only unreliable, but also, when it IS working, it tends to be sluggish. And I don't think it's a bandwidth issue, either, because I've had this problem consistently even when the shop was virtually empty except for myself. This is probably not a good place to do an online meeting or a skype date unless you're able to use your own mobile data. On the other hand, if you're able to tolerate the slow internet, then...
Read moreI went through the drive through today to get coffee for a friend and me. I was a bit flustered because I discovered my car window was frozen shut as I was pulling up to the drive through, so I was having to open my door to order. In this ill-timed chaos of swinging my car door open, I misheard what the employee over the intercom had said to me; I assumed she was ready to take my order when I could hear her starting to speak. So I started telling her which drinks I wanted to order, and she said in an obviously annoyed tone of voice, “I’ll be with you in a MOMENT.” Then I sat there in silence for a few minutes. Then, someone asked me if I was a perks member, I answered, and then there was silence again for a few more minutes…it was so confusing. Finally another woman spoke over the intercom who was much more personable and took my order. I had a gift card which I was fairly certain had $10 on it, and after I gave them the gift card to pay, the cashier told me I still owned an additional $6.66. I am positive that they overcharged me for my order of just 2 drinks, but at this point in time I was so flustered with having to get out of my car to pay with my frozen shut window and the way the rest of my drive through experience had gone that I just paid the extra cost to get out of there asap. I don’t know what it is about this location, but the time waiting in the drive through always feels so long, even when it doesn’t seem to be busy. The only reason I came here again at all was because it was on the way to my destination, and someone had given me a gift card to use. I really love caribou coffee, but the next time I stop for coffee in this area of town, there is a 100% chance that I will stop at the Starbucks right next door to this...
Read moreHello sharing my experience. I had been in caribou coffee Rochester MN N Broadway location on Wednesday December 4th. I ordered a medium pumpkin spice latte. When my drink was ready and announced for me to grab it, I went to the counter and immediately noticed it was a small instead of a medium. I asked, "did I order a medium or a small? I can't remember" I admit I do tend to forget very short term occurrences that quickly, that's why I asked. My friend who was with me looked at the receipt and we confirmed, I ordered a medium. So, I found an employee and told him the mixup. The woman who made my drink grabbed it from me and in 15 seconds tops, gave it back in a Medium cup. Am I overreacting in my thought process or was something wrong with this situation? I never worked in a coffee shop, nor as any barista ever in my life. I'm unaware of the process for making a latte, though it's January 2nd now and (I understand it could be silly, may be a tad anxious,) I still think of the interaction from time to time. Also, I didn't mention here that when I opened my medium cup after her putting it back on the counter, the cup wasn't full. Like...did she just pour the latte from the small cup into the Medium without any adjustments? I can't help but think otherwise, would you? What would you think? Am I overreacting? I believe the workers name was Shay. I understand I could have voiced my concerns to a different employee at the time but I have a hard time with confrontation. Thank you for your time to listen/read my...
