One of Rochester's hidden gems. Classic hole-in-the wall joint offering up authentic Middle Eastern food. Likely due to COVID, we were the only eat-in patrons on a Saturday night. In spite of an impressive array of constant pickups for takeout and delivery orders, the cook treated us as his special guests. We were brought a lovely lentil soup with fresh lemon before ordering, guided through the ordering process, and our platter to share was stunningly presented, with fresh arugula framing it like a crown. Everything was fresh and home-made, with every attention to detail. His home-made pickles were excellent, the rice perfect, the meats cooked to order. The salad was exceptional, with fresh mint, and the humous was studded with herbs/spices, like jewels on an ornament. He was solicitous with the home-made Turkish coffee, wanting to make sure that everything was as we wanted, and seemed genuinely interested in educating us on his Jordanian cuisine. We will most definitely be back. This place has it happening!

Overall an underrated establishment. Atmosphere: Aside from the building, the interior decor really seems reminiscent of a middle eastern yurt. Food: I ordered grape leaves and the mixed grill platter. Food came out in a reasonable time and the meats were cooked appropriately. Grape leaves were juicy and tart as they should be. Steak kebab was cooked medium, chicken was cooked through and had a perfect char. Lamb was the most flavorful and was also done medium. Generous portion of rice and salad. Hummus is a bit dry for my liking but not bad by any means. Anwar is quite a friendly gentleman. I tried some of the Turkish Coffee and it is quite good. Seems to be a man who is passionate about the food he serves. Overall the food was good tasting, fresh, and of generous portion to price ratio. I do beleive that the exterior facade may deter some from trying this restaurant, but the reviews are true to their word in my opinion. Give it a shot.

Honestly no idea how this place is rated as well as it is. First, it was filthy (like literally). Flies everywhere, etc. Took a surprisingly long time for the food to come out. The hummus was fine, but a little strange with what looked like relish on top. The pita was very dry. The grape leaves were actually pretty good. I ordered lamb chops but ended up with shrimp - I just rolled with it because the man did not seem to speak any English whatsoever (I had attempted to order by pointing at the menu but that had not helped). The shrimp were fine, but there was so few of them alongside a massive portion of rice. My wife got the beef gyro which was literally the smallest gyro I have ever seen alongside a massive portion of french fries and it was chewy. There was a tray of baklava just sitting out on a table as we left, just exposed. And $40 out the door for all this. Interesting experience but will definitely not be back.

The people were nice, but the employee lead me to a bathroom that was disgusting. One that will haunt me in my dreams kind of disgusting. The toilet was full to the brim like they just kept using it even though it was out of service, there was mold and dust all over the sink along with toothbrushes and toothpaste that had been there lord knows how long, paper towels all over the floor because the trash hadn’t been taken out in so long, and no soap in the dispenser. I nearly puked. I went in there to wash my hands before eating and completely lost my appetite. I think it was an employee bathroom because my family used a different one that was clean. If the employee bathroom looks like that, I can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like behind the scenes. I ordered samosas since they were deep fried. I didn’t trust any sort of vegetable or cold dish. I wanted something that had been cooked to a million degrees after seeing that bathroom and only stayed because my family wanted to stay since they hadn’t seen the bathroom and I didn’t want to mention it and ruin their time. The samosas were good (and really hot) and I used a fork to eat them because I definitely didn’t want to touch them with my even-more contaminated hands after going to that horrendous bathroom. Really hoping I don’t get sick, I don’t know how I even ate after seeing the bathroom.. but I didn’t want to be awkward while my family ate so I just ate them and planned to take pepto right after. Also I’ve noticed the owner likes to disagree with people in the reviews and I totally expect to be ripped apart for this, but this review is honest to God and they know that bathroom is disgusting. It’s the one down the stairs and to the right when you go inside. Literally will...

Been looking for a good authentic Mediterranean restaurant since moving here. I read the reviews and I was hopefully hopeful. I dined in, which was a mistake. I felt like I was intruding on their personal time vs being at a restaurant. There was a buffet set up but I'm not sure what that was all about. The waitress didn't say anything about it so I'm guessing it's for a party or something? She was absolutely clueless in general. I am guessing she doesn't normally work here or if she does she might be a daughter that has zero customer service skills. The gentleman who I encountered later, was very sweet and he might be the owner I'm not sure. I ordered the tabouli, but they were out of it so I went with the fattoush. It was ok but they used balsamic and I've never had a fattoush with balsamic. I'm not a fan. I ordered the hot hummus with lamb and the description said with fried pita and yogurt and it sounded really good. Instead I got just plain hummus and lamb with too much olive oil. When I asked about it, they were like we don't know what that is and changed all their menus Right there on the spot lol. Overall the food was decent enough but not impressive and the cost was average for Mediterranean. They did give me a dessert, on the house, for the trouble. I will try them again, just to see if this time was a fluke but so far, I'm...

Traveling through the area, tired of road food. Found this place with nice reviews. Even on Google said the place was busier than usual. I arrive, not a single car in the parking lot, red flag. Walk in, walk down a dirty carpet, red flag, to a dark sitting area, again dirty, red flag. Man comes out, says about five minutes. As I am waiting alone, no one else in the building, I hear the microwave beep several times. Leave with my food, the smell was terrible, rancid garlic smell. I gave some things a taste. After all the above, I ended up discarding all of the food. I tried to send a message through their ordering system, but it was a glitched system. After each letter, I would get kicked to the bottom of the screen. I did not feel calling the restaurant as the proprietor had a difficult time understanding me, and I him, when I was there. Which I am all about a delicious meal bridging our barriers. This was not the case. I feel the reviews are bought, and the 'busier than usual' statement on Google is controlled by the business. Unless having one customer was the busier than usual. In my opinion, this place is unsafe to dine. I hope he can fix the many problems...
