Mado Bakery and Cafe — Restaurant in Rock Hill

I absolutely love this place! The pastries are pricey but they're worth it, authentic European pastries are hard to find here. I am super disappointed though, that there's no pastries left most of the time when I come after 2:00PM. I've only had a chance to try one muffin so far. I really hope Serge figures out a way to have food there for us in the late afternoon. It was super disappointing to see pastries that would only be available for the next day. Maybe you can make some basic snacks available? Packaged cookies that can survive a shelf life of a couple days? Basic croissants that will always be available for anyone who comes in at the end of the day before you close? I'm not a coffee person, I'm not going to be coming in the mornings, and I don't enjoy drinking without something small to eat if I plan on hanging out over there for a while. Also, there were not many hot tea options for me. I'd really appreciate seeing more food and drink options in the afternoons. And also, smaller, less fancy and more affordable desert and snack options in the late afternoon. If you find a way to offer me that, I'll consider coming to visit on a...

Update and lowered to 4 stars: As much as I love the pastries, sadly the coffee is not up to par, it often tastes burnt or old. So many great local roasters, if only Mado offered good coffee.

Mado Bakery and Café is a must-experience, authentic 🇫🇷 pastries starting with melt in your mouth 🍪 from classic chocolate chip to salted caramel pecan, plus soon to come freshly baked baguette🥖 + 🥐 croissants.

The Parisian wife and husband team are masters of their craft and while the location in a strip mall on Cherry Boulevard may not suggest it, Mado is exquisite and worth the Java detour, too.

Bring a little time and patience as everything is made from scratch, plus it is only the lovely husband-wife team that currently does it all. And keep in mind, that not only are the delicious pastries and breads baked daily, but also with the best ingredients, including flour shipped all the way from France. Amazing amazing amazing! Absolutely beautiful pastries and service. This place was a lovely accidental find that my momma and I will now always come to when we come to work in Rock Hill. The display is laid out with exquisite desserts that not only look beautiful but taste perfect as well. I am a Baker myself, and I love how traditional they are with their French pastries! The coffee my momma had was the best she had ever tasted (it was a well-balanced mocha). We ordered 4 items (expensive, but once you taste, you'll understand the quality you are paying for) The strawberry mousse cake was delicious, and the strawberries were fresh and tasty The apple pear domed tartlet was gorgeous with the lavender petals. The flavors blended very well together and were not too sweet like other places The chocolate and caramel tartlet was rich and smooth The favorite of the 4 items was the peris brest! I was in heaven and absolutely took my mind somewhere while eating it, and I was nothing but smiles.
