Over the years I've watched our local Applebee's undergo a change in management many times. Which of course, does not help its service and ability to provide consistent, let alone quality service.
During my visit this Sunday, I witnessed what was about the worst case of service I've ever seen in any restaurant. Upon ordering of my first beverage, I timed it and it took 17 minutes to receive it. Within that 17 minutes, I witnessed the older gentlemen behind me ask for his ticket and explain that he and his wife were in a hurry and needed to leave. Roughly 15 minutes later and after a couple minutes of the waitress trying to justify her delay, he walked to the service station to pay his ticket which was never brought to him.
I then witnessed the table to the other side of mine, have a meal comped due to the timeliness of the service provided. When discussed with this party, the manager blamed the ability of the server as being "new and inexperienced".
I also took note that the table across from us, as well as several others, were served drinks from either the waitress' arm pits, elbow crease, or held at the rim. The support provided to the waitress was pathetic.
The last straw was the holding of hot plates over my 2 year old's head while being served. At this point, my wife and I let be known the quality of service and their skill was well below par.
I'm sorry, but the ability of a server, new or not, relies solely on the ability of the management staff to train. In the case of this restaurant, there was obviously no support provided to properly train the staff. If anything at all, common sense should prevail to these young employees. They should ask themselves, do I want their armpit on my drinking glass? Do I want their fingers on my drinking glass? Do I want them to hold hot plates over my head? If I'm in a hurry, do I want them to take their time and ignore my wishes?
I travel frequently and very seldom do I come across a restaurant of such poor service abilities. However, more often than not, I see that this local restaurant falls into such a category. The rumor has it, that the bar is the only place to get "good service" in what is called a "family restaurant". If that remains true, then good luck flourishing and not...
Read moreWe were traveling and ordered dinner online. A large order 4 adults and 2 children. Set to be picked up 10 minutes before close on 11/19/24. We picked up and took to our hotel after driving for 12 hours that day. Ready to sit down and have dinner at 10:30pm. I didn’t except the food to be exceptionally fresh seeing as we ordered it for pick up right before closing. What I did expect was for everything we ordered to be in the bags. Fail. An entire entree missing. So someone didn’t have dinner (me the mother). No one could share because mom has allergies. I tried to call but the store closed at 10:30pm so I didn’t expect anyone to answer after hours. I called the next morning and we were already on our way by the time you opened. I spoke to a “manager” who first asked if we had called when the mistake was discovered. We did but there was no answer that’s why I called when you opened. She apologized for us not receiving the food that was paid for. She took my name and address (I live in another state) and stated she would send a gift card. That card can be used at any location. I was fine with that. It’s been more than 2 weeks and I’ve not received anything in the mail or even a call. So Applebee’s took funds for a product not provided. I don’t usually write a negative review. However this location doesn’t seem to think they should be truthful and make a mistake right. I hope you don’t do this regularly to your customers. Next time we come through your city we will most certainly not be coming to...
Read moreHorrific experience. We came with a group of 6 ad we were passing through town. In one of the 2 for $20 we got the fiesta lime chicken and the three cheese penne. The fiesta lime chicken was absolutely inedible, the rice was so hard it was crunchy, and when we asked for it to be remade they brought it out and it had clearly just been "recooked" in water and given to us from the same pot or something because it was literally worse than it was originally. The penne was supposed to be made no tomato and with griddle chicken but came out normal. We sent it back and we did not receive this until the end of everyone else meals (the ones that were edible) and by then the penne was like warm at best so that wasnt finished either. Then we got a chicken broccoli Alfredo and the noodles were literally all stuck together in giant clumps as if they had not been stirred in the water, over half the noodles were taken out because they were stuck together and not cooked properly. Our drinks were not refilled the entire time and even after we asked for refills it took 45 mins to get another water. The manager came over and apologized and said he would offer a discount but then only discounted $10 which wasnt even 1 meal. And it was all on one ticket and we had 3 tickets, one of which had the two tickets we didn't even eat. He finally discounted $10 on our meal but even that didn't seem acceptable considering we did not eat 2 full meals on that ticket. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Seriously just...
