The place looks great from the outside. You walk in and it also looks great. And the place is jumping. It was packed. I could tell by the parking lot. We had reservations so we were taken to our table. While everyone's table was a wooden table with wooden chairs, we were sat at a table that looked like it came out the basement of a church. You know the fold out tables with the plastic folding chairs? Trying to hide it with a white table cloth. The ONLY table that had a cloth on it. STRIKE ONE. Devin (our waiter), after 15 minutes, he took everyone's order for drinks. 20 minutes goes by, no drinks. No water, no nothing, no communication either. He's just flying by taking care of the other tables. Oh yeah there were about 9 tables. 4 had people already there 5 didn't (including ours). We asked to move, but they "were reserved". 25 minutes, the bread shows up. No drinks, no water. 30 minutes the drinks show up. We put on our order for our appetizers & dinner together because we figured get it all in there so they'll come out somewhat faster. WRONG! 30 minutes later the appetizers show up. They taste good no issues. Now for dinner (this is where the music for Jeopardy plays. 20 minutes later, the foods shows up. I ordered the seafood jumbilaya. Wow it tasted really good, BUT it was not hot. Did I mention it was my son's birthday? He had the pasta with sausage & meat balls. Again tasted good but not hot. My daughter-in-law order BBQ chicken. THERE WAS BLOOD in the chicken! Health hazard & it was not hot as well. Forgot to mention that while we were waiting for drinks, the other tables filled up and were getting taken care of drinks, appetizers, water, dinner. In fact one table behind ours came ½ hour after us, got taken care of and people were leaving and we hadn't gotten our dinner yet. Unfortunately I expected to have a great time here. And I dislike to go there, but I felt because we weren't of a certain persuasion, we were treated like garbage. We were not loud, rude obnoxious or anything of the sort. Then the owner came to us after we called him over thinking he was a supervisor. When we told him how we were being treated, his take was "Oh that's the first I'm hearing of it. Can we all get along?" Really? Seriously? That's your way of handling things? No apologies? FOH! I wish I was a health inspector, I would've shut them down. Anyway, I and everyone else was done. I guess if you don't come with a white person you get treated like garbage. I urge all folks of a darker persuasion bring a white person with you so you can get some service. I just tell it like it is. I read people and when I see that I'm treated differently, I say what I have to say. We drove an hour and a half, based on a recommendation to come here. Never again. I should have gone to Mr. Crabby's in Dover. They treat you way better no matter what your background is and it has the same...
Read moreThis was my first experience here and came for Mushmouth with a large group. My friend who suggested it had been several times before but I had always heard mixed reviews about the food. I was looking for something bland and got the fried chicken. When it came out it was burnt, I asked for it to be sent back and meanwhile had some of my others friend’s rice bowl. Any salad can be made into a rice bowl, it’s a huge portion of what essentially appeared to be fried rice with some chicken on it. I had one bite and I ended up pulling out a long hair with a piece of rice attached. It was disgusting. After that we were both done with the rice. We waited for the chicken to return and I shared it with the my friend who had given me the rice. I had one drumstick and she had a piece off the breast. It tasted off, sort of tangy to the point when chicken has been out too long and turned. Another staff member came over to check (not our waitress) and we explained the issue. We gave up. The bill comes and $20 for the rice bowl and $24 for the inedible chicken was still on there. In addition, I noticed that there were 2 sets of prices for drinks. The first set of Amstel beer was $7 and then the price for the later beers was jacked to $8 each.. I don’t understand why it would be different. My friend asked for the rice bowl to be removed and the waitress reluctantly removed it and then said she wouldn’t remove the chicken.. so even though I was the one that got the hair in my mouth and rotten chicken, I paid full price. I decided not to pursue this and I doubt the waitress cared since she was getting the automatic gratuity due to the size of our group. Rather disappointing. We all did have a great time as the table was well situated and the band was amazing. Perhaps next time I will just get the pot stickers which were underdone but the sauce was good or the pizza that our other friends had and seemed ok. Drinks were overpriced. Such a shame because it’s only 10 minutes away; but I guess now I know why I haven’t ventured...
Read moreAwesome place. Great food. Perfect for the entire family with something for everyone on the menu. Our first time here. Service was AWFUL. Went for the Thanksgiving Dinner promo with my two young boys. Our special needs child has a limited menu of foods he eats. We called in advance and asked if we could order from the regular menu for our son since he doesn't typically eat certain foods. Yes of course was the answer. We get there, order our drinks and begin to place our food order. Thanksgiving Dinners for us adults and food off the regular menu for the boys. WE'RE NOT SERVING FROM THE REGULAR MENU TODAY, waitress says. We called earlier to confirm and they said we could. Waitress storms off to check. Comes back and says we can in fact order from the regular menu. We order. Thanksgiving Dinners include two appetizers items and a soup. Entrées are served family style on a platter. And finally dessert and coffee. I get my soup, my wife doesn't. No appetizers come out. Dinner platter comes out, but we're not given any plates to serve on. We flag down one of the staff and ask for plates. Waitress finally shows up and I tell her we never got our appetizers. She runs to the kitchen and comes back with just one of the two items we're suppose to get. We enjoy our delicious meals. We're done.... then we wait.... and wait. We flag down another staff member and ask for containers to take home our leftovers. Waitress shows up and I ask for the second appetizers that we didn't get to go. Then we wait.... and wait.... and wait. She shows up with forgotten appetizers. I asked if we could please get our desserts now. Desserts come out with stale coffee and barely a drizzle of milk. We pack up our leftovers, eat our dessert, ditch the stale coffees. Ask for check. Check had a hand-written suggested tip (20%) written on the bottom of the check. I paid the check and tipped her the full 20% in cash. Place is spectacular, food is awesome, service was horrible. Maybe next time service will be better since we have all had a...
