Hudson Brothers Deli — Restaurant in Rockingham

Another establishment in downtown Rockingham, NC. I came in and sat down at the bar. It took 10 minutes before the bar tender would even look and acknowledge me. I was watched from the time I walked in. But never spoken to. I kept a smile on my face and waited. The bartender finally acknowledged me, and I ordered my beer. The people sitting next to me when I came in swallowed their beverages down and moved over, which was appreciated because my friend needed a seat. The bartender overheard my friend and I talking about the local high school and soon realized we were close classmates. This changed everything. She opened up and offered food from the kitchen. They serve this loaded baked potato that was amazing. The wings, not so much. They were cold, old, and hard. Once they let their guard down and adjusted to our presence, they, as is the patrons, enjoyed my ease of style. The tip I left made the bartender even friendlier. Lol. Ordered two “Super Spuds” for dinner and expected the same classic super full of all the topping spud that we’ve gotten here for years. Got the food home and after checking twice found that there was no meat on either of them. Called and offered to return them as a replacement, the waitress says for us to just keep them and they’ll remake them right. After over an hour and a half from the initial order I finally received two remade “super spuds” to take home. Lo and behold I get home and if there ever was a pinch of meat that’s what we received. The menu claims these to be Super Spuds, but nothing was super about this experience or the two failed attempts at making a menu right. We stopped here on our way through town, looking for something other than the usual fast food and had one of the worst meals ever! Aside from being unable to make most of the sandwiches that were on the menu, the service was slow and the food was nearly inedible. The waitress, while being nice, was way more occupied with chatting and making phone calls than serving us. The sandwiches were served on stale bread and everything was overly salty. We even had to ask a different server for our bill, which honestly should have been free. My advice for anyone considering stopping here is to just swing in McDonalds instead!
