Great sushi but the place is not kept up so well. Still love this place. Update... I've eaten here since they opened. It's the goto place for sushi for my family and it's close so I can overlook the bathrooms that are so dirty and stinky it's often hard to understand if they know how bad they actually are. The atmosphere is everything is broken. The shades, Air conditioning, and all sorts of other stuff you can visually see to make the restaurant work. I know it's alot but good sushi that's close to home is pretty nice. The last time I went to eat the experience was so bad I got up and walked out. We ate sushi there about a 3 months ago and ordered a roll that we've ordered lots of times like every single week we eat there, however this time the fish was stinky and tasted bad. I'm not going to eat fish like that. I asked to send it back... I ordered another roll and it didn't smell good either but I didn't complain I just paid and thaught I'll be back and this won't happen again. Well I went back and ordered something again and it was great. I asked the waitress if she wanted to recommend a roll. They use to have a board on the wall with a sushi roll of the month. It hasn't been up in couple of weeks now. So I asked for a suggestion. The roll that came to the table was literally the worst roll I've ever had. Then I looked at the menu and not only was it the absolutely most expensive roll, it was horrible. Not etible in any way shape or form. My wife laughed like it was a prank. After 1 no thank you bite I told the waitress I can't eat this. I even insisted on paying because if that's there roll then I just won't order it ever again. Last week I went for lunch and the guy from the kitchen came over and said we send too many rolls back and we need to not do that. I explained for what I could but I just couldn't believe he was talking to me like this. He only had a couple of tables and said he was the owner. It's not the person that's always said they're the owner. I didn't argue but I listened to him and he explained how bad we are for sending food back. I couldn't explain but honestly it wouldn't have made a difference. This person was out to shame us and I knew if I ordered food he would have done something bad to it. He was so angry and unprofessional. I won't ever eat there again and I know they won't be able to keep up this and maintain a nice restaurant. Too many things...
Read moreMy friend and I came in for dinner and were seated fairly quickly and then promptly ignored for 10 minutes. When the server did finally ask for our drink order he talked over me and I had to get his attention to say I wanted an iced tea, which came out room temp. After this it took a bit to get or order in and once again he talked over both my friend and I and we had to correct him multiple times. Eventually when my sushi rolls did come out, about 45 minutes later (I understand fridays cane be busy however people who were sat well after us were getting their orders well before ours came out), it was the incorrect order. Instead of waiting another 45 minutes I decided to just eat it, sad to say the flavor and texture were not great. Additionally we had ordered a cheesecake which apparently they forgot to put in and I had to ask about it twice at which point I was told it had only just been put in. By the time it came out we took it to go and when we got home we discovered that it had chunks of mystery food in it as well as a huge chunk of edamame fried into the top…clearly not safe food handling. When I pointed out the mistakes before we left all the server would say was “sorry Friday’s get pretty busy.” yup Friday’s do get busy but that’s no excuse. The cheesecake also just tasted like dirty fryer oil. Over all the service was awful…the table next to us seemed to be having some issues with their bill as well, the food was disappointing at best, and the most concerning part would be observing multiple instances of unsafe...
Read moreDecided that of the two sushi places near me in Rocklin I prefer this one. The sushi and other items I have ordered have been consistently good on all three (almost) visits. Friendly people, good service, fun sushi crew, nice vibe. Last two times I have ordered "Omakase" (let the chef guide you) nigiri sushi. Both times this has been super - fresh well made nigiri with very cool flavor combos. But I made a huge mistake in ordering the "BBQ Albacore".... big big mistake. Not good. I was hoping for a sort of glazed umami rich BBQ sauce sticky grilled Albacore dish. But out came chunks of Albacore (I guess) on a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce, each one dripping in this not very tasty sauce. No signs of char or flame, and just a horrible texture and flavor. Two bites and that got pushed to the other end of the table. I really am not one of those people who orders things and says "oooh, I don't like this" and expects it to be comped. But in this case, the sweet server did not even ask me why I had not touched it... guessing she did not want to 'go there'. It was not her fault... not sure whose 'fault' it is. But in the end this is a very badly conceived $17 mistake. Do NOT order that. But so far, everything else has been consistently good. I would have given 5 stars but for that awful...
