The Curry Leaves has almost 100 food items ranging from traditional Indian favorites, Indo-Chinese, Southern Indian Dolsas and Northern Indian chaats. The following is based on my experience with the Indian food that I ordered and two visits to this restaurant. Everything we ordered was delightfully rich in flavor. To start, the papad served with mint sauce gets your mouth watered and ready for the entrees to come. Tandori chicken was chicken thigh meat and came on a hot plate. It was tender and had a perfect balanced taste. Butter chicken was one of the best that I've had. Again it was rich and creamy. However, I think it could have used a few more pieces of chicken. Punjabi goat curry had an uncertain taste to it. It was more gamey than I'm used to. At first I thought it may have been slightly bad but the curry that it was in was so delicious that I took the chance on eating it. I didn't get sick so I think it was just me. I'm going to order this again and see if it tastes any different. Again, I think this dish could use a few more pieces of meat especially for a $21 dish. The dolsas are huge and come with three dipping sauces although one of them could have been a small soup. I ordered the plain masala dolsa with potatoes. The thin crepe seems a bit too large (I know that how it's supposed to be) but for the amount of potatoes that I received the crepe seemed a bit too big. Nonetheless, it was also very delicious. And of course the saag paneer was spot on and rich in flavor as well. In terms of the atmosphere, it has a nice Indian decor and the bathrooms seemed well maintained. Saturday night the restaurant was full and the music was a bit loud for my taste. Thankfully, the music was Indian music and not 80's rock and roll or hip hop that would have ruined the atmosphere in my option. On the other occasion, I came during lunchtime and the music was at a much better volume. The service on both occasions was good with attention to water levels in our glasses and we were asked if everything was good at least once during the course of the meal. While all those working there offered great service this restaurant could be even more enjoyable to go to if there was more joy and smiles seen on the workers' faces. I know this is asking for a lot since the restaurant business can get busy and tough at times. Nonetheless, I will be back and I have no hesitation to refer or bring...
Read moreCame today out of state to visit a friend and stopped by here for some food. We sat down got some appetizers and just had water to drink. Me and my friend both got biryani, I got the lamb one. While the food was good in flavor, unfortunately the biryani had a lot of bones in it of various sizes which made it hard to eat, let alone dangerous, since some of the bones were very sharp. Entire time im just picking out pieces of bone from my mouth and putting them on the plate. In addition to this issue, we were stared at by an older lady the entire evening, and some of the other staff which made the experience very uncomfortable, as though we were not welcome there. About 10 minutes of enjoying our food, the lady came over to tell us about the sauces that came with the briyani and what to do with it. We both were enjoying the food as is and did not need for someone to tell us how to eat our food. We both got the food to go due to this uncomfortable situation. The waitress came over very fast after asking to split the bill, as though wanting us out of the restaurant. We both paid, left a tip and walked out. As we walked out not a thank you from the waitress or any pleasantries. Either both of us or one of us was definitely getting judged for our looks by the waitress, and made the entire dining experience uncomfortable. Neither one of us was disrespectful towards the staff, or made any rude remarks about the service provided or the ladybstating at us. Please have your staff learn some hospitality and proper service etiquette as it is completely unacceptable to judge people based on their looks, as well as making judgmental looks toward them the entire dining experience. Would honestly not recommend this place to anyone just from the...
Read moreThe Curry Leaves has long held the title of my favorite Indian restaurant in the Roseville/Rocklin area, and my recent visit only deepened my love for this warm, flavorful gem. This time, I brought my niece along—she recently discovered her love for Indian cuisine, so naturally, I had to take her to the place I trust most. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Renu, our server, who treated us like family from beginning to end. Her genuine hospitality and thoughtful attention made the meal feel like we were dining in someone’s home rather than a restaurant. She took the time to understand our preferences and made spot-on recommendations that introduced us to new flavors while honoring the dishes I already know and love. We opted for the $50 family meal deal, which offered an impressive variety of options perfect for sharing. It allowed us to try a little bit of everything—ideal for my niece’s growing curiosity and palate. The portions were generous, and we ended up leaving with plenty of delicious leftovers. The meal deal was a perfect option for us—both in value and variety. Every dish was rich with flavor, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. Even as a longtime fan of The Curry Leaves, this meal exceeded the high expectations I already had. It’s not just the food that keeps me coming back—it’s the consistent warmth, care, and comfort that defines the experience here. Renu and the team make each visit feel personal and special. I’ll always recommend The Curry Leaves to anyone craving delicious Indian cuisine...
