This will be a bit of a lengthy review as I have a few points to mention. I have stayed at this hotel twice in the past but this was pre-covid and I have nothing but great things to say about back then...... I stayed here recently for three nights in September. I checked in and my Aunt was with me and she put my room on her credit card and said not to use the one that I reserved the room with. So we get to my room and it is nice, clean comfortable we sat and visited in the room for an hour or so then went out to dinner. Upon my return I turned on the TV and proceeded to run a bath. The TV had no volume and there was no hot water what so ever. I contacted the front desk and Marcie came up to check the room and yes agreed with me so Michelle at the front desk assigned me to another room. So I packed up all my stuff and moved up one floor and down to almost the other far end of the hall. Well this room was dark, small and no bathtub which is always one of my requests. I then went down to the front desk again and Michelle was able once again to move me to another room that was very much like the first one I had but not nearly as clean and much older tired look furniture but the TV worked and I ran a nice hot bath. Once I finished my bath, the tub didn't drain for about 2 hours but not a big deal as I wasn't going to use it again until the next night I just scrubbed it out after it finished draining. They do not offer every day room cleaning which I was fine with I told them I would just switch out my towels as needed with the cleaning lady therefore no one needed to really be in the room. The second night I had an extremely noisy bunch of young girls (a team) as this hotel does cater to teams and they were in the room adjoining mine. I did not say anything at first as quiet time starts at 10 or so the rules say when you check in and it was 9:45. At 11:00 pm I finally did call the front desk and requested that they please be asked to tone it down and about 15 minutes later all was good. The next night I came back to my room around 7:30 pm after being gone from 10 am and my door was open and I mean open not latched anyone could have just pushed on it and gone in as you could see from the hallway it was open to anyone. I have no idea how long it was open for and why anyone was even in my room, since I was not getting room cleaning or towel changes or anything. I am just happy my passport, I-pad, jewellery or any clothing items were not missing. I then checked out the next day and guess what I am checking and doing some online banking and my credit card was charged for my room and so was my Aunts card after specifically telling them to put it on my Aunts card. They did credit me back but with the foreign exchange rate on what they charged me and what they credited me back I was out about $40 for a mistake that was theirs not mine!!! In closing I have to say that Michelle (front desk) and Marcie (Attendant) were both extremely helpful and they should be recognized for this. I must also say the breakfast was very good even though it was busy, they still provided hot food and kept the serving dishes full so yeah for that!!! I do not know if I would stay there again after this although the location was perfect for what I was in Roseville for, I might rethink the hotel. It just was not up to the usual Marriott standards...
Read moreThe hotel is recently remodeled. While you can tell they use lower end vinyl material for the tub surrounds, they use middle tier materials such as quartz for countertops. All in all, it is a very nice looking property especially for a bottom tier Marriott property.
Unfortunately, there were a few issues that made this stay less than spectacular. The hot tub was not working and the pool water was frigid. Fortunately, this franchisee also operates the Towneplace Suites across the parking lot, so we were allowed to use that pool/spa. As a consequence of using that spa, the brass clasp corroded in the heavy chemicals causing the nylon/spandex of my wife's swimsuit to melt. When told of the issue, the hotel refused to acknowledge this could happen. We asked if we could prove it to them by putting the swimsuit in the spa for 5 minutes. They agreed and when the swimsuit came out, the brass was further corroded and the swimsuit was melted at the clasp. Further research on Google showed brass is susceptible to dezincification in water with strong levels of chlorine. Ultimately, nothing was done for us aside from the promise of a follow-up phone call that never came.
They gym is small, but adequate. When I was using the gym, they were missing a 20 lb. dumbbell. The weights only go up to 45 lbs, whereas most hotel gyms go up to 50 lbs. I know that's adequate for most, but I'm a bigger guy and wished they would have at least 70 lb. dumbbells.
The complimentary breakfast is also another miss. The eggs are heavily watered down. The texture is more of a tofu than they are of scrambled eggs. The lack of protein options are apparent. They have two warmers. One is for eggs. The second rotates between potatoes on some days and turkey or vegetarian sausages on other days. They put out griddles for waffles on the weekends. That is a definite positive. On the negative side, there was one F&B staff member that clearly hated her job. She was borderline rude to guests.
Overall, service is decent. I wouldn't say it's up to the standard of the namesake Marriott properties, but they try to make guests feel welcome. Marriott Elite members have their names printed on a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper thanking them for their loyalty upon check-in. Other than that, it is your standard check-in.
The rooms are clean and spacious. While the hallway noise can be quite loud, the living room area provides a nice buffer for slamming doors and...
Read moreGreat rooms, the beds werent comfy for me, had to sleep on the couch, which turns into a bed, in order to get a restful sleep. Stayed here 2 weeks ehile in town for business. Only one night got woken up by some rowdy young adults in the parking lot having a midnight footrace. A call to the frontdesk and they took care of it within minutes. The gym is actually very nice, 2 stationary bikes, 2 elipticals, and several treadmills all with tvs, built in fans, etc. had a great lil all in one machine, 2 benches, slew of dumbells, leg press machine, row machine, yoga balls, mats, elastic bands, a couple kettle bells and the gym is open 24hours. Theres wipes to wipe down the machine after you done using it but saw just about everyone else not wiping there equipment down so recommend wiping it down before you use it. Springhill suite does NOT have a pool but i was told we were allowed to use the pool at townplace suites which is in the same parking lot just the next building over. First i checked with my front desk and they said yes just ask their front desk to let you into the pool area. I go and check with their front desk and he lets me in no problem. I come back the next week and go to towneplace to use the pool and the front desk member gives me the 3rd degree having to go ask his manager if its ok and when they said yes they still said im lucky cuz they just had a bunch of people check out like they were doing me a favor. The next day different front desk person doesnt ask for permission but rolls her eyes when she comes out from the desk and says just so you know we dont allow springhill guests on fridays and saturdays. I understand that they would have rules on this but why did it take 3 visits to hear them all, it really made me and my family feel like an inconvenience to them. Keep in mind this is in regards to the towneplace staff and NOT springhill staff. Although I do wish the 2 communicated better or simply allow our keycards to open their pool area. Regardless it was a great stay. Just keep in mind springhill does not have a full kitchenette, it only has coffee maker, microwave, and...
