Love the food. Love the service but I believe I got ripped off. We were big party. Around 20 people combination of adults, youth age and toddlers. We ordered 4 lentil soups,6.95 each, three mix grill kabobs priced on menu as 44.95, lamb kabob 17.95, chicken sandwich 14.95, one order of lamb and chicken combo as Togo, 6 cups of Turkish coffee, 4 baklava, and 4 kunafe. The owner himself took our order and we asked him about how many people can eat the mix grill and he stated 4-5 people. He suggested we should order 3 platters of that and it will be enough for everyone.
When the food came out, it seemed more than we ordered and we thought he splitted the food in more plates to accommodate our big family. We enjoyed the food and it was excellent. We loved the desert and very good but we paid in total 468.00 dollars and the price of combo Togo, and Turkish coffee was not disclosed. When we went inside to pay the bill it was splitted between me and my brother and we paid 234 each. It seemed a lot and I didn’t argue with the owner nor I asked him how much he charged with each item. Was there a gratuity charged. I should have asked but I didn’t. Now I feel that I should have questioned the bill by each item. No recipient of breaking down each item was presented. It was a plain credit card slip and we signed it. I am very disappointed. I would even pay 500 for my family but when you add this bill up it comes to 325 with my rough calculations with tax. I believe I at least paid 150 more than for what I ordered. The food definitely appeared more but he should have disclosed that. It was never disclosed and I never questioned. Hopefully I am able to explain my complaint and give a fair review. Thanks
Got a response from the owner. He said he explained the order to us and there is a misunderstanding from us. He states that why I chose to pay inside when his policy is to bring bill to table. Paying inside or outside doesn’t change business ethics. He didn’t show the actual order ticket to us at all. It is his responsibility as a business to show proper charges with each item. He stated that gratuity is charged automatically but when I signed the credit card recipient, I didn’t fill the tip part and later he wrote in there. I still don’t understand why he charged us for three orders when we only ordered 3 mix grill special.
He stated that he made space for us and gave us the food a lot faster. Don’t all businesses do that..? What kind of thinking is that. He sounds like he gave me a huge favor. I am not happy with his business ethics and I recommend to do due deligence before you take...
Read moreDisappointing Restaurant Experience
I have tried this restaurant a few times before, and now that they have moved to a new location, I was hoping for a better experience. Since they moved and had a fresh start, I expected improvements. However, it's the exact same greed in the way they price their menu which it doesn't reflect the quality, quantity, and overall service. I don't have a problem with the price at all if it's related to what they serve, as well as to overall image of the place. My wife and I ordered two small sandwiches and extremely tiny portion of hummus and eggplant. To be honest, you can hardly call it an appetizer at all. Firstly, the quality of the sandwiches was very poor. The meat was very sparse, and the taste of sour cabbage overpowered the small amount of meat in the sandwiches. Each of these low-quality sandwiches cost $18. If you consider the taxes and tips for each item, it comes to around $22 for each sandwich. I would have no problem with the price if it reflected the quality and quantity of the food, but it does not. I have worked, managed, and owned restaurants in both the United States and different countries. Specifically, some of them were focused on the type of food they served. Therefore, this review comes from an experienced restaurant professional. Additionally, I have been fortunate enough to visit many types of restaurants at various levels even in Turkey the country from which this cuisine originates., allowing me to easily distinguish between a good and a not-so-good establishment.
The most troubling aspect of this particular restaurant is the owner's consistent pattern of responding aggressively, insultingly, and defensively to any criticism. At times, he even denies that the person who wrote the review actually visited his establishment, instead of taking responsibility and working towards improving the quality of service, food, and overall business. I don't recommend this place to anybody.
Update after owner responded "Your behavior is quite excessive, lame and ridiculous. Which is a common point of criticism in both my review and those of others in which you tend to dismiss genuine experiences with fabricated stories from your end, which is very ridiculous. It's unclear how my review relates to your...
Read moreWe went to Anatolian Table in Rocklin for the first time last night, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and seated right away. I really liked that the kitchen is open, so you can actually watch the food being prepared—it adds a nice touch to the whole atmosphere.
We started with the stuffed mushrooms appetizer, and they were absolutely delicious—earthy, cheesy, with just the right amount of kick from red pepper flakes. A great way to start the meal.
For dinner, I had the lamb kebap (Adana Kebap), which came with rice, onions, pickled cabbage, and a small salad. My wife ordered the beef and lamb from the spit roast (Doner Kebap plate), served with the same accompaniments. The presentation of the plates was elegant, and the flavors were outstanding—fresh, tender, and so flavorful. The portion sizes were perfect: filling but not over the top. I finished mine completely and felt comfortably satisfied, and my wife saved a little to take home for our son to try.
The service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and helpful with suggestions, and another server stopped by a couple of times to check on us and even offered a special seasoning to try (sumac), which was a fun touch. Someone who I think was the owner also came by to ask how everything was, which made the experience feel even more personal.
Price-wise, I thought it was very reasonable, especially considering the quality and uniqueness of the food. We even splurged on an appetizer, which we don’t always do, and still felt it was well worth it. Compared to other places that charge nearly as much for basic, unremarkable food, this felt like an excellent value.
All in all, Anatolian Table delivered on every level: food, service, atmosphere, and price. We’ll definitely be coming back—and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for something special and...
