I'm gonna try this review a little different. I usually just rate by overall feeling then share details. This time I'll start with 5 stars and take away or add back as warranted. Let's see where we end up. I Googled New York style pizza before starting this review, as this is the only place near me that claims to have New York style. From what I can tell they have what they claim. However, there is not enough flavor in the crust. The texture and thickness are fine. I never had pizza from New York but this place seems to hit it with texture, thickness, and pie slices. It is more bland than elevator muzak. -2 for being bland. +1 for texture and all the rest. My daughter doesn't like this place, due to past overexposure. -1 just cuz we're a solid family. When she found out we were getting dinner from Johnny's this evening she said "I guess I can try some chicken tenders or a burger if they have it. They do have chicken bites, a $9 appetizer. I thought that would do it. I was wrong. What we got was 50 cents worth of the bits and pieces left oven in the bottom of the Tyson frozen nuggets bag. -2 because if you aren't going to do it right just leave it off of the menu. We're down to 1 star! I hope this gets better. The salads! The salads are delicious! I have liked every one I've gotten here. +2 because I like a yummy salad. Tonight I had spaghetti. It was okay. The noodles were cooked right. The sauce was flavorful. The meatballs were so so, but overall it was a good dish so +1. But, they need more options. People may no usually get spaghetti from here, but all the ingredients to tailor some yummy in pasta are just laying around. I know I'm not the only one that enjoys spaghetti with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and shredded cheese. And again, it's already there. Use it. -1. That's puts my final rating at a 3. If I had just rated from felling instead of keeping track I would rate this place.... well.... a 3. Hmm. This may have been a waste of time. Oh well. You got my rating and some details about the food, so we all end up at the same...
Read moreI’ve loved this place for the last couple of years. It’s always been a great place to have dinner after work or while out running errands.
Lately though, it’s not been great.
My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday around 2:00 PM for lunch. We were the only people in the dining room, and the kitchen was quiet. It definitely felt like a slow and calm afternoon, which is nice.
We ordered garlic knots and two slices of pizza. We got our food within 10 minutes.
The garlic knots were burnt and hard on the outside, room temp and chewy on the inside. They had obviously been prepared and cooked ahead of time and reheated when we ordered them.
The pizza was the same, both slices were warm and crisp around the edges, but tepid and chewy near the centers.
I wasn’t going to argue with the poor waitress but I could tell from the look on her face when she asked if the food was alright, that she knew we probably weren’t happy with it. I understand that these types of decisions come from her bosses though, not her, which is why I didn’t complain to her. I’m sure she has enough stress on her plate already and she doesn’t need to be punished for the things her bosses choose to do.
They now also charge an extra $0.69 for each ranch cup to have with your pizza. Not a single other restaurant aside from Zaxbys charges for dips. That’s frankly absurd that you would charge nearly a dollar extra for it at all, especially for DINE IN.
I loved this restaurant, and so did my husband. We’ve always had amazing service and all the staff are always so kind and fun to talk with. While it wasn’t this restaurant, our very first date was at a Johnnys pizza.
But if their bosses are going to keep bringing the quality of the food down and nickel and dime-ing people, then I’m just going to buy a frozen pizza at the store for...
Read morePosting on behalf of a friend: "We went in on the last Saturday of April. We were seated quickly and our appetizers and first drinks came out at a reasonable time. The garlic knots and bruschetta were delicious. And that is where the good review ends. We ordered our pizza at the same time as our other food. Time went on. And on. And on. Our waitress never came to check in or update us on why it was taking so long to receive our order. We eventually got her attention and essentially had to pull it out of her that the kitchen had ruined the first attempt at our pizza and were trying again. The next attempt they brought to us was undercooked. By the time we got to the "third time's the charm" pizza, we were already overly annoyed and hungry again. An hour after waiting for results and observing the quiet conversations and worried looks shared between the kitchen staff and our waitress, we were in disbelief at the pizza that came to our table. A pile of toppings in the center covered the hole where the rest of the pizza should have been. All of the slices looked as if the tips had been bitten off by a hungry child. The resolution offered to appease our disappointment? They removed an appetizer from the bill. The actual good part of the meal. We understand that they are understaffed, but we were patient. Quality can not be allowed to decline so drastically due to quantity. We won't be returning and we don't suggest anyone else visit either, unless it's to apply for a job and...
