I came here recently for my birthday party with a few friends. I live nearby and actually bring my dog to the vet in this shopping center, but found out about the restaurant through Instagram. I loved the vibes/aesthetic and my friends and I love karaoke so it seemed like a good fit.
We did the AYCE basic option in a private room and everyone enjoyed the food - and since a few of us, including myself, eat mostly vegetarian, they were happy to accommodate us with multiple vegetable options. The tofu on the menu is wonderful - especially the spicy one! The cheesy corn is also SO good and they happily refilled it for us! The meat eaters loved all their options, especially the steaks. Great food and value for the price at $27/each; I also got to eat free since it was the day after my birthday and I brought 3+ friends (they do ask for ID proof).
Service was friendly and prompt at first, but it did slow down a little once the restaurant got busier (it was pretty empty when we arrived around 6pm). I was never asked if I wanted a second cocktail/drink (some in my party did order but I was somehow excluded) and I had to ask a couple of times before they refilled our water pitchers. At one point I had to ask my friend to go find our server for something. Overall, it was fine except for a few hiccups/comments.
I booked the room for 2 hours and the server never came to give me a heads up about time - something that I've always experienced at other karaoke places I've booked. When I finally asked him where we were time wise , he told me we were at 2.5 hours, so I told him to cut it off soon after that (you pay by 15 minute increments). The room we were in was $60/hour so I just would've liked an update. I was trying to keep track and was aware we were likely over, but I wasn't sure exactly on time since we started a little late because a couple in my party came late and we didn't start ordering right on the reservation time. Also, the server never offered us dessert even after I had asked him if he could start clearing some of our plates when we were done. My friend had to go ask about dessert and disappointingly, they only had smores. I was really hoping for soft serve.
Karaoke was fun but it was hard to find songs on the screens themselves - we had to go to Youtube to find what we thought were basic/standard songs, but then the screen would freeze or lag. Using the QR code to add/skip songs on our phones worked much better. We also had to ask for replacement batteries for one microphone but it still seemed to not work (we didn't bother to ask again, but it was just kind of a bummer) even though it would turn on. But we ended up having a fun time despite those few minor challenges.
My biggest disappointment was probably that the restaurant didn't acknowledge my birthday in any way. They allowed me to bring a cake, which was very nice, but they didn't even offer me a sparkler for my cake or provide any type of birthday acknowledgment. One of the reasons I booked this restaurant for my birthday party was because I've seen how they bring out the birthday sign and sometimes sparklers for people but they didn't do any of that for me. Maybe it's because we were only a group of 8, versus being in the large room (11-20), but it doesn't say anywhere on the website that only certain size groups get their birthday acknowledged. We still dropped almost $600 for a few hours, so I would've liked some type of birthday acknowledgment - even at a chain restaurant they will give you a free dessert with a candle. I was disappointed that they didn't make me special at all, even in the private room. The server did say happy birthday to me as we were leaving, but that wasn't what I was expecting (and probably only because he saw the cake and my ID).
Overall, we had a good time and the ambiance is nice - I will probably be back for the food or karaoke in the main area but I don’t think I will book it for a...

Service: I had a small party of three, and we arrived at 10:04 pm. Our server was an older Chinese lady who gave us the typical “here’s your food and walk away” type of service. We did not mind this because we are also Asian and are aware that this is a common style of hospitality in Asia. She was a decent server overall. She pre-bussed our table and reminded us about the ice cream. However, she never gave us water until half an hour later, and only after we asked for it. :/
The real issue started when it came time to check out. We spent over five minutes trying to get her attention as she kept walking past us, which was confusing. At 11:03 she finally gave us the receipt. There was an automatic 18 percent gratuity added without any notice. I checked the menu and the posted AYCE policies, and they clearly state that auto gratuity applies only to parties of five or more and to all parties seated after 11 pm.
I called her over to clarify. I asked why she never informed us of the auto gratuity. She simply said, “That’s the way it is.” I asked if this logic also meant that if I came at the start of lunch but checked out a minute after it ended, the restaurant would charge me for dinner. She said she did not know and repeated, “Policy is policy.” At that point, I told her I understood since she was just the server, and I asked to speak to a manager. She pointed across the restaurant at a table and told me to walk over and talk to the manager myself.
I was in disbelief at how unprofessional that was. I told her I was not going to do that and asked her to please call the manager over to me instead. She rolled her eyes but finally called her over. When the manager arrived, I explained three things: One, our server never told us about the auto gratuity. Two, we arrived and finished before 11 pm, but our server ignored us until two minutes past 11 and then charged us. Three, the server never checked up on us during the meal.
The manager said the policy applies after 11 pm but agreed to refund the auto gratuity this time. She also told me that if we had an issue in the future, we should go directly to her and not the servers. There will not be a future visit because I will not eat here again. I told her they should make their policies clearer so customers are not confused.
Originally, we were going to tip 20 percent because we understand how difficult serving is, especially late at night. Unfortunately, we did not accept the refund because the server had already given herself 18 percent automatic gratuity. Very disappointing. :(
Food: Surprisingly, the AYCE hotpot broth was not bad compared to Hulu, Urban Hotpot, and UMI. It actually had flavor. I ordered the Szechuan spicy soup. It was the American type of spicy rather than authentic Asian spice, but I added more chili peppers to make it stronger. The meat was not as fresh and had a little grainy texture. For late-night hotpot it was fine. The vegetable selection was limited, but the sauce bar was solid....
