How does this place have 4.5 stars? It was terrible all around
Tortillas: 1 out of 10, store bought, microwaved, gross, they were brought out cold. When I asked them to bring me fresh ones, they threw the same cold tortilla in the microwave and brought it back. P.S. I'm Hispanic and eat tortillas daily. Can guarantee 100% they are microwaved. Tortillas on the comal have a completely different texture and flavor. Never microwave tortillas
Enchiladas: 3 of 10, bland, no flavor, no spice, devoid of Chile Rojo sauce, barely any cotija cheese inside, served at room temperature not even lukewarm
Chile Relleno: 5 out of 10, poblano was okay, not nearly enough cheese
Beans: OK 6 / 10
Rice: 6 / 10 - would rather get arroz y frijoles from any other Mexican restaurant in town they're all better than this
Taco salad - 7 / 10 good toppings
Kids chicken fingers with fries - 6 / 10, very similar to frozen chicken fingers you can get at kroger, same for the fries
Service: the server was good, and attentive. The manager however couldn't comprehend that tortillas brought to the table cold should be replaced with hot, fresh tortillas that are properly heated on a comal.
Does paying $2 for more tortillas would bother me? Absolutely not. Paying anything for a meal with microwaved garbage is bothersome however.
I live right down the street and can say we'll never be back. Would rather drive anywhere else in town or to the next town over for better Mexican food
Owners should look for a new day...
Read moreThis looks it's the place to be! We went on a Friday night right after the freeze on February 3rd. The place was jam packed but the staff was grand keeping up. It was easy to step up to the bar and grab a drink while we waited. The waiting area was small so folks were just trying to cram in where they could. Once the weather is nicer then standing outside to wait will be nice. They will also have the outside seating available as well. Now to the food. The chips and salsa were good. Not greasy and nice and crisp. The salsa was mild but still a bit spicy. I ordered a Paloma from the bar and it was a bit light on the tequila. I ordered the chicken flautas and they were just ok. Not a lot of flavor, might be a good option for a child or someone who doesn't like TexMex. My husband ordered the Carne Asada with steak. It came out on a hot cast iron skillet and stayed hot the whole time. The meat was on a bed of onions and topped with cheese. Beans and rice were on the side with a tiny bit of pico. You can so get corn or flour tortillas. He said that the cut of meat was a nice cut , not a flat and grisly piece of meat. He asked for medium and he got medium from the first bite until the end. We enjoyed the atmosphere for sure but I'll try something other than the chicken...
Read moreWe visited on Saturday for lunch . The place is beautiful and inviting. The Manager was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant very modern and clean . The waitress was not very friendly and seemed, as if she was in a hurry to take order , leave and not come back . We were missing drinks and had to remind her . The food was delivered by a food runner . Kids had Fajita taco with rice and beans & chicken flautas entree . The rice lacked flavor. My husband ordered the Brisket quesadillas, which he said also lacked flavor. I ordered a Mango frozen margarita and Enchiladas Mexicanas, which where also lacking flavor. My enchiladas tasted dry and I could not taste the red sauce flavor . The tortilla was dry and my food was not hot . It was warm and the potatoes and carrots didn't taste fresh . For Dessert we ordered the sopapilla with Vanilla ice cream and it was a generous portion enough for us 5 . My 3 children , husband and my self . It was so delicious, crunchy and so flavorful. The only item, we enjoyed . Our bill was about $82 for 3 small children and 2 adults . With tip we spent $100 total . I am not sure that we will give this place...
