Darrell's Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Rockwell

I've never reviewed a restaurant online before. After last night's experience at Darrell's, I have to express our opinions. Our party of 3 dined-in at Darrells last night and ordered from their specials board. I chose the country fried steak, and my guests had flounder and the smoked pork chop. Everything was cooked & seasoned to perfection, and delicious! I'm convinced somebody's Grandmothers were cooking in that kitchen last night, lol!! The country fried steak was hands-down THE best I've ever had at any restaurant; perfectly seasoned and every bite was tender. The smoked pork chops had just the right amount of smokiness and was tender & moist. The flounder was fresh tasting & delicious too. The pinto beans were fresh cooked & perfect, as well as their homemade white slaw. Even though every table was full and the phone was ringing off the hook for takeout orders; our server was very sweet, timely, and attentive... as were All the servers I observed. We've dined at Darrell's at least once a month for years, and have never once had a bad experience. Last night's specials were so over-the-top delicious, that I just had to leave a review to give credit to the cooks, and to ALL of the staff for a well deserved.......

I had chopped pork tray w/tater salad and pasta salad. The waitress was wide up but she kept up good and our food came out quickly and hot. The place was full for Saturday lunch. Probably the best tater and pasta salad I've had. I even got to go orders of them both as I had BBQ left over. The BBQ was a huge portion, it was moist and chopped, not chopped or ground to a powder like other NC BBQ I've had. Reason for the 4 star on the food is though the BBQ was moist and there was a lot of it, it lacked a smokey flavor or any taste of having any rub or seasoning on it. I don't eat pepper vinegar(my analysis of NC BBQ sauce) so having a sweet sauce or some other sauce to choose from might be nice. I'm not knocking it, it was the most moist tender BBQ I've had with no sauce or seasoning. I will most definitely stop in again and bring my own sauce or rub to sprinkle on my plate.

The atmosphere was awesome. The walls are covered in NASCAR die cast and memorabilia. Took me back to a much simpler time and a time when I loved racing. Thanks for that! Thanks for a hot taste meal

“Amazing”

THE Service 5⭐️ Came through the drive through. The lady at the window was so nice all smiles I ordered a cheeseburger all the way extra crispy fries and a large Diet Pepsi. I was expecting to wait 10 to 15 minutes to get my order I asked if I need to pull around she said no. Within five minutes I had my food exactly how I ordered. Ask for ketchup she smiled and said it’s in the bag along with salt.

The food 5 ⭐️ Oh wow The hamburger was fresh NO frozen patty chili was HOMEMADE along with the slaw. French fries were extra crispy NOT BURNED as I ordered. The diet Pepsi was crisp and fresh.
