Ok, here is the deal! I have come here several times. I have given it an honest go at this atmosphere and restaurant. I can’t continue to give my money to a place that absolutely does not care about the “basic” needs of a customer. Let me explain- when you run a bar and restaurant the first thing you should do when a customer enters your establishment is 1. Speak, 2. Ask- “what would you like to drink?” 3. “Would you like something to eat?” 4. Observe and engage - always anticipate what the needs of the customer are. 5. Regulars- know your regulars. 6. There is an “exchange” here especially at a bar. 7 Customer wants their needs met - hence that’s why they came in to begin with. 8. Small talk goes a long way. 9. Probably - good idea to actually serve the customer. Problems 1. No greeting 2.No-one asked about what we drinking “we had to speak” 3. No one asked if we eating anything even though we eat at bar all the time we come in. 4. No one spoke after been here, just continued to stock bar. 5. No dedicated bar tender 6. No one asked if I need another drink even after taking away an empty soda bottle. 7. No one asked about anything 8. I looked around on a Saturday night at 9 pm with a DJ who showed up to play and there is actually “NO ONE” else here in this establishment “why” because of the above reasons. Why would I continue to spend my money in a place that does not care about the basic needs of the customer. I will no longer have this abuse- this place is “NULL AND VOID”
Guava ISLAND - is off my list until I hear differently and or I get an apology from KIRK - and the system changes and the...
Read moreI was in Rocky Mount this weekend for the Down East Classic. We found this restaurant online after the game, and decided to give it a try. When we called we were greeted by a young lady named Jaz✌🏾. She was soooo nice. Because this was our first time eating there, we had a few questions about the menu. She was patient, polite, and very knowledgeable of their products. After ordering, we proceeded to drive to the restaurant. We could hear the music as we approached the entrance. It was such a great atmosphere. As we entered we were greeted again with a smile and hello from the ladies at the front…one of them being Jaz. The customer service was top tier. We paid, left, and proceeded back to our hotel to enjoy our food. Guava Island did NOT disappoint. My oxtails were AMAZING. Not to mention, I got so much food. It was as worth every dime. Keep up the great work team. I will definitely be returning the next time I’m in the...
Read moreJerk chicken meat was super tough for both the plate and the side order of wings. The sauce was good but you have to slow cook the chicken just to soften the meat at home because it is too tough to eat.
I didn’t like the brown stew chicken but at least the meat was tender which is why I don’t understand why everything jerk was so tough.
Oxtails aren’t the Caribbean oxtails I’m use to. It tasted like meat in regular gravy. I did like the smidget of spice kick in the gravy and the oxtails were actually tender so it wasn’t necessarily a waste of money but there’s ALOT of fat on their oxtails and I hate fat on mine so I wasn’t a fan of that.
Spicy beef patty is the only thing I have no complaints about. Very good.
rice peas weren’t mushy so that was a plus I just wish that I wouldve did the full oxtail plate to put gravy on it and the cabbage since the brown stew was so nasty
My dad and I agree that we...
