Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Rocky Mount

I ordered the chicken and shrimp and it all tasted like a burnt stove. The rice was dry. The waitress was rude! She threw a salad at me and never once apologized! The cook had to keep reminding her to bring me out a fresh salad. When she finally brought my the salad the way she was holding it her thumb was in my salad. I ordered a sweet tea to drink and when the waitress gave me a refill the tea tasted like a flat Dr.pepper! When I told the waitress she did not apolgize but brought me back another drink! I havent had a soda in 6 years and having that being broke by a careless mistake at a restuarant makes me mad! She didnt know if I was allergic to soda or not! When she brought back my sweet tea I asked her was she sure it was sweet tea. She then caught an attitude and try to explain that it wasn't her fault that she picked up the wrong container. I told her that she needs to do better next time. She walks away and only brings out one pen and hands it to the other family first and says "I only have one pen". No one left her a tip a the table because she had a nasty attitude as well as not being friendly. She never gave her name so I cannot tell you who she is. I called the manager when I left. The manager tried to tell me everyone has a bad day and that she is still trying to work out some quinks with the staff. If you are working in the public as a waitress how I am treated determines their tip ! The manager told me to come back in whenever and I would receive a free appetizer. I explained to her I wouldn't be back due to the lack of personality of the waitress and her careless mistakes, and the lack of seasoning of the food (SOY SAUCE IS NOT A SEASONING.) I told the manager I would be calling corporate only to find out they are independently owned! Thats not a problem i'll call the better business bureau. Also the food is expensive for my boyfriend and I who ordered a chicken plate and shrimp and chicken plate and sweet tea the meal came up to be $43. I wish there was some way to leave a review without checking a star, because the level of service I received on yesterday doesn't deserve the 1 star that was given. I chose this restaurant because my cousin had never been and it was her birthday so I decided to take her here as I had been a couple of times before. Now it had been several years since I'd been as I do not live in the area anymore. We arrived around 6:15 on Saturday, July 20th. We were seated quickly at a table with a family (husband, wife, and 2 kids) and a couple. So there are 8 people at our station. The waiter, which was an older man comes and takes our order. He leaves and we're assuming that he's putting in our order. Times goes by and we see that tables that were seated after us were being brought their drinks and salad or soup. I get up to go and see where our waiter is and he is helping another table. I talk with a waitress to ask her when will we be served and she said shell get our waiter for the table. At this time is after 8pm and now we have two waitress over apologizing and saying there was a mix up in the orders and be assumed we were being feed. The cook was excellent and made exceptional food and service, but the waiter never came over to apologize for his actions. I work in the food service industry for over 28 years and I can honestly say, I will not return to your establishment. Where was the manager to come over and extend his apology and possibly keep continued customers. 2 waitress who worked very diligently to make it happen was there. No, the drinks will be on me, or any heartfelt acknowledgement of their error. Get it together Ichiban! I wanted to show my family a different experience in food and what you showed her was never returned...

I go in there with my family for my birthday and the boys love it because of the show with the fire on the stove and we sat and waited for 15 or 20 minutes to get seated and once we get seated we are sitting off to the side because they called another family to sit at the table before us and they zoomed to the table but we mentioned it was my birthday and so why did we not get priority since we came to celebrate my birthday at your restaurant? When I could've gone somewhere else instead we came to this place and when I politely asked to be moved to another table so me and the kids could be in front and get a good look at the cook but instead they said we would be put in the back of the waiting line and wait about 30 to 45 minutes for a table and that there was nothing else they could do, like we didn't just wait 20 minutes LIKE ANY OTHER customer to get seated. I assumed that when mentioning your birthday you would be treated a little bit more special since it was my birthday and we decided to come celebrate and spend money at their restaurant and are very great tippers, I must add. I wanted to leave so bad because they were slightly rude about it like my birthday was not special at all, like I wasn't a valued customer and I kept getting stared at by the manager and the front girl like they were upset i even asked to be moved to another table. I won't come to celebrate a birthday there ever again. But the food is good. But the service is not the greatest. Very disappointing, seeing as their manager was caught doing something not very godly and she couldn't even get me my own table or not own table but at the very least in front of the cook for my birthday.
