I stopped at the Starbucks in Rocky Mount to grab a coffee and use the restroom, and what I walked into was honestly shocking. Both restrooms were labeled unisex, which already made me uncomfortable, but when I went inside, it looked and smelled exactly like a men’s restroom. There was urine on the seat and floor, and even a visible pubic hair on the toilet. It was completely unsanitary. I checked the other restroom hoping it would be better, but it was just as bad. I told the staff, and thankfully someone did clean it before I used it...but there were at least fifteen employees behind the bar and only one working drive-thru. It was disappointing to see so many people standing around while the bathrooms looked like something you’d find in a corner gas station in the middle of nowhere, not in a multi-billion-dollar company like Starbucks. This was my first time ever having to ask someone to clean a restroom just to make it usable, and the whole experience felt violating. As a woman, walking into what feels like a man’s bathroom, seeing and smelling things that make you immediately uncomfortable... We’ve had men’s and women’s bathrooms for well over a hundred years... for a reason. Privacy, hygiene, comfort, and safety matter. It’s not just about labels on a door; it’s about giving people a clean, respectful space to take care of basic needs without feeling exposed or uneasy. If a man had to walk into a “unisex” restroom and found menstrual blood, tampon residue, or women’s pubic hair on the seat, he’d probably feel the same way I did... uncomfortable, disgusted, and wondering why basic boundaries were taken away. That’s what this felt like for me. Starbucks needs to uphold higher standards of cleanliness and consider that not every customer feels safe or respected walking into a unisex restroom that clearly hasn’t been maintained. I hope management reads this and takes it seriously... because this location fell far below the standard people expect from this brand. Also Never once did anyone say “I’m so sorry about that” or even acknowledge how gross it really was. Instead, I got attitude, like I was inconveniencing them for asking someone to do their job. No kindness, no apology, no sense of urgency...just irritation that I spoke...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with my visit. I pulled to the drive-through and it took maybe two minutes, because I decided to place a mobile order. I believe this made Holly upset. She said it would be 7-10 minutes instead of the 4-7 quoted in the app. After about 8 mins one of the workers brought me one of my two drinks and proceeds to go back in and make the other one which took another 10 mins. Now why would the drinks from the same order not be made at the same time. Holly proceeds to lie to me and say that their mobile orders are back up and they are short staffed yada yada. There was only one car in the drive thru when we got there and a total of two more during my total wait time. SOO BUSY. And she also had the nerve to say the drinks must have pulled on two separate tickets, that makes sense (not)....
