This used to be one of our favorite places to get ice cream locally. As we have done many times in the past, we walked the two miles to Indian Boundary Park, just as an excuse to get some ice cream at Lickity Split on the way back.
But now I guess they think they're a bakery.
Nearly all of the room inside, previously reserved for customers to sit and enjoy their ice cream, has been replaced by workspace for the bakery employees. The remaining customer space is so small, confusing, and poorly laid out that we watched a couple walk in and then just leave.
They pushed their baklava by approaching us and another customer with samples and a strong bit of schmooz -- something that was never part of their approach in the past. According to my wife -- I don't eat the stuff -- it wasn't comparable to authentic baklava like the type you'll find at the Middle East Bakery.
The warm-and-fuzzy, vintage ambiance is almost completely gone, the candy options have been decimated, and there's barely any room to even stand around. There are literally three stools left, with three chairs outside.
We used to watch large groups come in with their kids from baseball games and the like. Because, you know, it was an ice cream shop. Now I have no idea what it is. And I don't think...
Read moreI love this place and always come with my family and friends. However, today Sat, we including a kid and a couple of others kept outside while the staff were inside. It was superhot at 12pm with a heat advisory in effect! They are supposed to open at 12, but we waited for 15 min, they ignored me and the kid. At least they could let us in if they were not ready to go. If you're not able to open at 12pm on Sat in hot summer, don't write every corner of your shop that you will be open at 12! At least make an eye contact, and say please wait x min! Normally, you deserve 5stars, but with this situation, driving a kid miles to give him an ice cream in a hot summer, and you not adhering to your own schedule, I am...
Read moreOVERPRICED for the portion size, mediocre taste and limited options. We tried the peanut butter brownie, chocolate ice cream and a turtle sundae. $ 6-7.00 for a small TURTLE SUNDAE. The lid cover for sundae was obnoxiously HUGE for the size of the sundae. Peanut butter brownie is heavy on the peanut butter. Had better at Whole Foods. I live in the area of both their locations. We walked in after visiting the park nearby. I've checked it off my list and shall never return. Thoroughly disappointed in the limited Ice Cream flavors and the bakery options. I do not feel it is...
