This was my first and worst dine-in experience at Taza Bakery.* I’ve been a loyal customer for almost two years, mostly ordering takeout and always enjoying the food. Yesterday around 6 PM, I brought my sibling and two uncles from Naperville specifically because I’ve loved eating here.
Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. When we walked in, the tables were messy, and the staff seemed completely disinterested. One of the girls working appeared visibly annoyed and careless. We sat down, then had to move ourselves to another table, still dirty, and cleaned it ourselves. No one came to take our order for 15–20 minutes, so we eventually went to the counter to ask.
There was a girl at the counter near the restrooms who was helpful, and we ended up placing our order directly with her: 2 Lamb Zurbian 1 Lamb Haneeth 1 Mutabbaq 4 Lamb Soups
The other lady who served us was extremely rude. First, she brought out four tiny plates — not suitable for full meals — and then the soups and Mutabbaq, which were good. But things went downhill fast.
When the Zurbian and Haneeth arrived, our table (which was too small, partly my mistake) got overcrowded, and again, no assistance was offered. We waited at the counter for spoons — she gave only two. For four people eating multiple dishes and salsa, that made no sense. My brother had to keep going back to ask for spoons, water, and other essentials. The level of service was just unacceptable.
There were three girls working — one at the first counter, one at the last near the restroom (who was the only one doing her job), and the one serving us who lacked basic manners and customer service skills.
We spent nearly \$130 and received worse service than at a cheap fast food place. The food, as always, was delicious, but service matters. I left feeling frustrated and disrespected. I’ve never had a bad takeout experience, but this dine-in visit left such a bad taste that I won’t be returning, not even for takeout.
I really hope the owner sees this and addresses the issue. It would be a shame to lose loyal customers because of poor service.
Thank you, and goodbye, Taza. I didnt took photos but if want i can attach payment proofs for more...
Read moreDuring ISNA weekend we visited Taza Bakery and I have to say I have mixed feelings about the experience. We ordered a mandi combo with chicken and lamb. The rice was decently seasoned, but it wasn’t the best mandi I’ve had—there were no fried onions or toppings, so it felt a bit basic. Honestly, it seemed like a budget-style mandi, but the price was full, which was a little disappointing.
We also tried chicken on hummus, which was okay. The chicken itself was fine, and the hummus was decent, nothing remarkable. On the other hand, the chicken fahsa was really good, and it came in a hot, boiling bowl, which was a nice touch and kept the dish warm throughout the meal. Even better was the beef mutabak—that was delicious, and I’d definitely order it again. They serve fresh bread, but it came out cold, which unfortunately threw off the experience a bit.
The service was okay—not bad, but not exceptional. A nice touch was that they had white sauce on the table, which was convenient. The place was pretty busy, with a lot of people coming in and out. One minor issue was that the tables were pretty small, making it a little tricky to maneuver all the dishes on the table. It also wasn’t the cleanest environment, which is worth noting.
Overall, I’d say this place is hit or miss. Some dishes, like the beef mutabak and chicken fahsa, were excellent and worth trying, while others, like the mandi and chicken on hummus, were just okay. The pricing felt a little high for what you get, and the environment could be cleaner, but if you’re in the area and craving Middle Eastern food with a Hyderabadi touch, it’s...
