A table isn’t a booth, and to some that may not be a big deal, but when spending $200+ on dinner and having made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and confirmed by a hostess the day of.......it should be, because it’s a symptom of very poor customer service.
We are so very disappointed. I made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and it was confirmed this morning around 11am with Natalie(sp?) via a quick but pleasant phone conversation. She confirmed us at 7pm a booth for 2. I confirmed again that we would like a booth, as my wife and I are celebrating our 5th anniversary and we have always preferred to sit next to each other. She repeated my request and then said “how sweet” that is and said our table would be ready upon our arrival. We arrived at 6:55 pm to the hostess desk and were told it would be approximately 10-15 min wait. So we waited. When we were escorted to our table the hostess, whose name we didn’t get, took us to a table in the farthest back corner of the restaurant next to what looked to be an emergency exit door. And again, not a booth. I inquired why we did not receive a booth and she said flatly, “they are all booked.” I politely said, yes I know, because I booked one 3 weeks ago and confirmed this morning via phone. She was very rude and said we can go check if you insist. Which we did, upon arriving back at the hostess desk, we were told by a young lady who acted as if she was doing us a huge favor, “well you can wait and we will see, but it could be a while.” I asked why did we go through the trouble of making a reservation and confirming if they aren’t going to honor our only simple request? I was told, “people are taking longer tonight than normal.” So we proceeded to wait some more. Finally 35 min after our reservation time and no closer to a booth and after watching several people who came in with reservations after ours be escorted as politely as possible to their table of choice.....no really. “We see you wanted to be by the fire place, we have that for you.” “Yes, we see you requested close to the bathroom, we have that ready for you.”
My wife and I decided to spend our $200 for an anniversary dinner elsewhere. After leaving, making it to the car, getting 5 miles down the road in traffic, my phone rings and I am met with, “your table is ready sir, but we don’t see you in the waiting room.”
On another note, when did it become acceptable to arrive at a “business casual” dining establishment in house shoes, tennis shoes and jeans or an NFL team sweatshirt. Why can standards that are meant to create a certain ambiance not be upheld by an establishment.
We went to a locally owned, very high end establishment, had no reservation, got a nice booth with very relaxing live piano and had a wonderful steak dinner and were treated like people should be treated when they are dropping $200+ on dinner for a special occasion. We won’t ever step foot back in a Ruth’s Chris, which is just shameful to me. It should have been a better or at least...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were lucky enough to to get a reservation on Valentine’s, and as first timers we were very excited. It was a lovely experience from start to finish. The hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in. We had a reservation at the bar, but as soon as we checked in we were asked if it would be alright to be seated in the main room and be seated sooner. Let me tell you this was the best decision of the night! The bar area looked nice and welcoming but as we were taken to our table we quickly learned how special of an upgrade we received. The table we were taken to was a private room in the middle of the restaurant that was inside their wine cabinet, it was small, intimate, and even in the middle of a completely full restaurant it was quiet and romantic. We were then quickly greeted by the highlight of the night, our phenomenal waiter David. He was personable, knowledgeable, and had the perfect quality of being there right when he was needed. We asked for some recommendations on food and wine and quickly decided on crab cakes, calamari, and a bottle of Cabernet to start. David brought out the wine, opened it expertly, and let us try to make sure we enjoyed it. Quickly after that the appetizers arrived and were amazing, the calamari was crispy and bouncy with a delicious sauce on the bottom. The crab cakes were absolutely divine, being almost completely made up of fresh lump crab meat with just a a slight breading to hold it together. We’ve decided we will be coming back to sit at the bar and enjoy some crab cakes in future. David then suggested a salad before our meal and we ordered a delicious Caesar that he was kind enough to split for us. It was then time for the star of the show, our perfectly cooked and seasoned medium rare NY strip. I’ve eaten many steaks in my life and this was easily up there as one of the best! Cooked to the exact temperature we liked, very tender, and with a delicious butter on the plates that were hot to keep the steak warm. We enjoyed, laughed, drank wine, and just altogether had an amazing dinner. Near the end we were both full and the lovely manager Paul came by to check on us and clear some plates we were finished with, which is very impressive on a day like that and with a full restaurant. A lovely to-go person came and boxed up our leftovers to take home and enjoy later. All together an incredible experience that my girlfriend was raving about all night, big brownie points earned! Read moreWe went for our anniversary dinner. The table was nicely decorated with rose petals and the server promised a slice of chocolate cake on them at the end. We ordered shrimp cocktail and the harvest salad to split. Both of those were great. There is a lot of chit chat between the servers that you would not have found in the old location. I noticed it when we walked in and were waiting for our table (even with a reservation had to wait ten minutes to then be told to go upstairs for our table - not sure why they wouldn't just send us upstairs right away as there is another desk up there for seating people as well). So while we waited we got to listen to the girl's behind the desk gossip and then the one asked me to phonetically spell out my last name (which I don't think is very complicated) so she could put it in the computer. Strange. Never been through that at an "upscale" restaurant. Our seat was next to where the staff entered and exited the food area, so it was constant commotion around us (not well located - in the old place it was more separate from the dining guests). Our seat also happened to be by an outdoor seating area. Which would be fine except they had the doors open. Fast forward to our entrees - cowboy ribeye and crab cakes (both fine - not exceptional), broccoli au gratin (lukewarm temp), enter FLIES. The table was immediately covered in flies. The waiter said do you need anything else? I said yes, a fly swatter! He let out a little laugh and said yeah sorry about that. This made me think it was a common occurrence. Not a great answer sir. We ask for our bill and the promised chocolate cake to go. We pay the bill, server says cake is on the way. Fast forward to waiting another 15 minutes. No cake. Decide to pack it up and leave because they never cleared the table so we were just left to sit there watching flies feast on our food. It takes a lot for me to complain, but this was it for me, so as we walked down the stairs we passed a hostess I asked her to grab a manager for me. When I spoke to the manager I started with I do not want anything but you can not fix what you don't know is wrong. So I told her about my night she made silly horrified and shocked faces. Asked if she could get us our cake. I did not want to wait to see how long that would take and our car was waiting. Time to exit. So if you go expecting anything to be like the old location you will probably be disappointed. If you don't mind spending a few hundred for dinner to eat with the flies, then you are in luck, you...
