I have been a customer of Starbucks for over thirty years. I enjoyed grande mochas daily for over ten years. When they introduced sous vede egg bites, I often added them to my grande mocha orders. On the West Coast, most large cities have more Starbucks than gas stations. However, when we settled on Sand Mountain in Dekalb county, Alabama, I was unable to patronize Starbucks without driving more than an hour to find one. However, I still stopped at Starbucks when traveling. Since I switched to ordering lattes rather than grande mochas (43 grams total carbohydrates & 35 grams of sugar) a few years ago to reduce my intake of sugar, I never looked into the nutrician values of Starbucks lattes or egg bites. Today, I stopped at Stabucks on my way out of Rome, Georgia. I enjoyed an order of bacon gruyere egg bites and a grande latte on my drive home. After I arrived home, I found I was not feeling as good as usual. Consequently, I looked up the nutrician value of egg bites and lattes. I was amazed and disappointed to find the grande latte packed 19 grams of carbohydrates and 18 grams of sugar, and the egg bites contain 18 grams of carbohydrates and 4 grams of sugar. This Starbucks visit had a total of 37 grams of carbohydrates and 22 grams of sugar. My daily intake of carbohydrates rarely exceeds 5 grams, and sugars are less than 1 gram. No wonder I did not feel well after consuming them. There are articles online that refer to egg bites as "keto friendly," but rather than evaluating an order of egg bites, which contain two, they report the nutrician value of one egg bite as a serving. Surprisingly, an order of egg white & roasted red pepper egg bites contains 22 grams of carbohydrates and 6 grams of sugar while kale and mushroom egg bites offer up 22 grams total carbohydrates and 2 grams of sugar. Both of these results are counterintuitive to what many people associate with egg whites, red peppers, kale, mushrooms, and eggs. Considering I ordered what I expected to be low carb and low sugar, I was completely wrong. Based upon these facts, I can no longer recommend Starbucks unless you are looking for sources of high...
