The first time I ate there was by accident. I had to kill a couple of hours and my buddy suggested King Claw. Boy was I glad. I had the fried catfish dinner with hush puppies and fries. My buddy had the shrimp. Rather than tell you how good it was let me relay this. Everything was good. I don't know about the Bar but it looks professional and large....for our little burb. A week later my wife and I decided to go out as a little old couple. I had bragged on King Claw and she was in. She loves, loves seafood. So off we went. It was late so we worried about being served. Actually they keep late hours. After looking the menu over we decided to split an entree' . We ordered the Low Country Boil for one. Which came with 1 lb of large shrimp, nearly a pound of polish sausage, two fist size red potatoes, and a corn nibblet. We ordered an extra nibblet plus onion rings as an appetizer. We should have brought some home but I gorged myself. I rarely give out 3 "five star" ratings but they get one. Not for being the BEST I've had...just really good. The service was excellent on both my trips. The food was equally as good. As for the atmosphere it is really good. I hate to say it but Joe's Crab Shack and Red Lobster had better watch out. Well Red Lobster anyway. Joe's Crab Shack at Town Center has been gone for a little while. I wouldn't drive 50 miles to eat there but I might wait till I got back to Rome for dinner if it was too far. Aug 4, 2023....UPDATE....I just took my better half to lunch at KING CLAW. Dang this place is good...I am going to stop these rave reviews before I review myself out of a place to eat. Low Country boil again for lunch...you Red Lobster folks need to wake up or you'll be leaving me The Shrimp Boat. Kudos to King Claw for making the lunch...
Read moreHave you tried King Claw restaurant in Rome Ga? Do you like fresh seafood? This is an exceptional place to dine. The food was perfect. The service was perfect, and an excellent atmosphere to enjoy as well. Let me say, for as many restaurants I eat at and do reviews on, this one was near perfect. Why not perfect? Simply because perfect doesn't exist in the real world. If it did, then this would be my first perfect dining experience. The food was exceptional. Crab boil was done just right. The Flounder I had was fried perfectly. All the sides that I had with my meal were exceptional as well, right down to their sweet tea. My waitress Becca was awesome. She made sure I had everything I needed to enjoy my dining experience. She was very friendly and kept a check on me the entire time I was there. I was so impressed with my visit, I asked to speak to the manager. Becca introduced me to the manager Dani, who I spoke with a few moments telling her how pleased I was with the dining experience. Dani was very interested in the thoughts and opinions I had regarding the food and service. She was very friendly and receptive. I can only give 5 stars here in my review, but I would rate the total restaurant experience a 10 out of 10. Prices here are well set for the type food you get, and portions are very generous. If you have never dined at King Claw in Rome, Georgia please try it. Some of the freshest, tastiest, seafood I have ever had. It is very nice to know that some restaurants still take pride in the food they serve, as well as the customers they service. Exceptional...
Read moreWe saw this place several months ago when in Rome and decided on a whim to drive 40 min to try it tonight. After asking us how many in our party they asked us if we wanted to play bingo, prizes were free appetizers, gift cards etc. Big Mistake! Made the dining experience noisy and distracted us from reading the menu. Be prepared if you order the seafood boil to spend about $40pp+. We ended up ordering shrimp and grits and fried oysters. 2nd big mistake. Oysters were over cooked and dry. Half of them were not edible. The small plastic condiment cup of slaw that came with it tasted spoiled, the roasted garlic potatoes as a side looked like potatoes that were left over from last few nights boil then added butter and seasoning to it, they were dark brown in the middle. We ordered calamari as an appetizer breading tasted like uncooked flour. Red Lobster’s calamari is 100% better. For a seafood place, they can improve on their tartar sauce. It tasted like mayonnaise and dill pickles. Hush puppies were pretty decent. From looking at the reviews I would say pay the $$$ and order the seafood boil. We had such a disappointing experience I don’t think we would make the drive to take the risk again. The best part of our visit was our server was our waitress, think her name is Jay. Friendly and attentive! I don’t normally like to give negative reviews but this was a big disappointment. Hoping the establishment will taste the slaw and not let certain sides get past their “safe...
