I joined this Gym about a month and a half ago. I signed up online and had given access to all the documents that I needed to have. Upon going to the gym (for the first time) I had to resign some of the documents I had electronically signed (no issue with that at all). At the time I had asked to see what I was signing because the person at the front desk just gave me an electronic pad to sign my name (didn't really tell me what I was signing). The initial disclosure stated that I will be charged an annual fee and when it will be charged. Also how much my monthly membership fee is and when it will be charged. I went in last night to cancel my membership as I don't need it anymore and might be moving soon. The staff was friendly and helpful. They again just told me to sign the pad and that it confirms I'm cancelling my services and after that i'll be good to go. I trusted him and signed the pad (big mistake!!!!). I asked him if all was good to go and he told me yes and I asked if I'd get any paper or receipt and he said you're good to go now. At which time I asked him if they will refund the amount that they charged me for this month since I got billed on the 17th of this month and it is only the 21st. He told me they don't prorate and that I will have access to the gym until the 17th of next month (again, completely okay with this also). Then I asked him about the annual membership fee and he states that regardless of you being with us or not you will be charged that fee (sorry, come again?). I was with this gym little over two months, the annual fee, annual being yearly is $39.99. Why will I be paying for the year when I used the services for 2 months, I will be more then happy to pay the prorated amount of that but I do not think it's fair for you to take money out of my account. When I gave my account information to you, I trusted you as a company to not take it upon yourself to do as you choose. I asked the guy to show me where it states that I will be subject to that charge regardless of when I discontinue my services with this gym. He said I was told this when I first joined and I told him that it makes no sense for that clause to not be on paper when you guys have had me sign over 5 documents already. He told me I did sign it and showed me the document he had just made me sign on the pad 5 minutes before this conversation; which stated even if i freeze or cancel my account I'm subject to the annual fee. I asked to see a document that had stated that when I was first signing up because had this information been available to me I would not have ever joined knowing I'm in this town for a total of 3 more months. He just kept repeating the same thing which is "I don't know, they told you when you first signed up". The real question is when I came in to cancel and was told to sign on the electronic pad again why wasn't I told (even when I asked) what I was signing. The date on the document that has this information is as of yesterday, the 21st. Basically, I feel that I was deceived and the staff member looked me in the eye and told me that when I call corporate they will just brush me off. I asked to speak to the manager who wasn't available and was also told that he would do the same and that this is their policy. Policies are okay but what you guys are doing is omitting information that a customer needs in order to make an educated decision. Basically you are telling me that you have my account information, you will charge me (does this count as theft by deception? lol) and basically there isn't anything I can do about it. Well that's not true, I'm going to reach out to the manager of the club and depending on what he says, to the BBB. I'm tired of business thinking they can do what they want and the little people who have no voice or money to make an impact will just sit there...
Read moreI would not suggest a membership here. Or if you have one make sure you go in person and get something in writing when you cancel your membership. I tried calling to cancel, could never get anyone on the phone, after reading online it said I could come in the location to cancel or send in a letter. I sent a letter on March 3rd. The next month I was still charged. I tried contacting them but couldn’t get ahold of anyone. I contacted my bank and gave them all of the info and the letter and they allowed a dispute and blocked them from pulling from my account again. Then I got over $200 in charges on my credit card on file. I called corporate, finally got ahold of someone. They transferred me to the store and got the manager. She claims they never got the letter and told me I should have had it certified… I can guarantee this is all apart of why they want you to mail a letter. So they can claim they never got it and continue to charge you considering most people probably wouldn’t even notice. The manager said she could not refund that money, she said she could send it up to someone else to see about a refund but she said 100% of the time she does that it never gets approved to be refunded. We will be disputing it with the credit card company since no one here can do their job or take accountability for their mess ups. Anyone wanting to cancel don’t believe what it says online that you can just mail them a letter, make sure you go in the location and get in writing that it...
Read moreI like the gym itself, it's a good place. Been going here for a while. Only two reasons I'm not rating this higher: 1.) It's very crowded. This gym needs to be much larger for the amount of people it has, to the point I'm thinking about looking at another gym. The people to machine ratio is off, especially with smith machines - there's four, FOUR, for like 100 people - can never get one and they're also always moving the benches around all the time so sometimes they just aren't there - very annoying. 2.) The music: it's good, but quiet. Some people walk in blasting their own music and nothing is said. If you're not going to say anything, turn the gyms music up, please. Also, the water filter status has been red for a week, and the last time I went it the water just didn't work at all. There's been issues with the water fountain before. They need new ones, they're getting old, and gross. If you are filling a water bottle, you just can't drink from the other fountain because there is no pressure so people just wait awkwardly while your bottle...
