Went today for lunch, me and a friend ordered our food for dine in. I ordered loco rice with steak and she ordered steak and shrimp nachos. When we got our food we both noticed a weird wang with the cheese dip. I thought maybe they used a different seasoning on the steak but when I tasted a piece without the cheese on it, it tasted normal. It was almost like the cheese had been scorched in the pot while making it. We weren’t going to say anything at first but after one or two more bites the after taste was absolutely awful. Even tried to put salsa on it and it was still a very gross taste. We ended up telling the waitress and she was instantly offended. My friend suggested her trying the cheese herself but ofcourse she came back saying it tasted fine and that everyone else in the place had the same cheese and no one else was complaining. We weren’t trying to be rude at all but we asked to send the food back and we would pay for the drinks and kids meal my daughter had ate. I could understand them thinking we were lying if we had taken multiple bites out of the food but we literally took MAYBE 2-3 bites total. We weren’t just trying to get a “free meal” or whatever. We went to pay and every single worker we came into contact with told us “you have been the only ones to say it tastes odd” Lol even the actual manager who checked us out. I paid first and he didn’t say a word to me then tossed my change back at me. He again told my friend “we were the only ones who felt that way” his attitude was completely awful. I’ve always had a great experience with them but they were down right d*ckheads about this. Take it from me, GO TO EL ZARAPE ON BROAD STREET. You will NOT be disappointed. Their staff, manager/owner and food is 1000000xs better than here. And their cheese dip is always on point. I really felt like we were being gaslit by the time we walked out the door, until I read another review talking about the mystery taste...
Read moreWhat happened to this restaurant? I ordered the 'new' carnitas dinner 'to-go' and was extremely disappointed. The carnitas were full of fat, and tasted like they were purchased from Sam's Club, actually, no. Sam's Club carnitas were better than those. The carnitas tasted very dirty. The rice and beans portions were extremely small and was that even beans? More like soup, when did refried beans become soupy? Oh, that's right, when the restaurant is trying to stretch as much money out of the made batch, they add water which then results in soupy beans, but again, there were no beans just mushy bean soup. I used to love this restaurant, and the one taco I ordered WAS really good. But I will not being going back and I understand why the restaurant stays empty now. Tequilas, less than a mile up the road, is FAR better and their chips alone could be eaten as a meal as good as they are. I hope Los Portales gets it together, the competition has been on point almost all of the time (not just Tequilas). They definitely have a lot of improving that needs to be done before they end up out...
Read moreFound this place because a customer and I had to take a look at a 65 C10 he was thinking of buying. Due to the wait, we got lunch in the city of Rome, GA.
Customer found this Mexican place. Reminded me of an old style Texas Restaurant from the 70's. Service was average and the wet steak burrito that came out was large. The food was average, meat was not seasoned and/marinated. Just Ok. I am from the West coast so I don't understand why certain Mexican restaurants have to change thier taste of food for the people here.
You can tell it's predominantly white area here, still no reason to change the taste lower that authentic taste. C'mon brothers and sisters make it like in Mexico!!!! Man I miss the West Coast Mexican restaurants they kill it and have you begging for more.
This place is just MEH!!! Oh chips and salsa was that cheap thin...
