Abis Kitchen serving West African Ghanaian cuisine in Romeoville IL

I wanted to try African food. Abis did not disappoint! So good. We had egusi with pounded yam and spiced goat. Was very spicy. Also messy. So be prepared with lots of napkins. Fufu was on point. The guy at the counter that took my order was very nice and polite. He offered me plasticware and when I said yes, he said you’re not going to eat with your hands.!?! We laughed. I said yes I’m going try to eat with my hands, I forgot lol but just in case. Prices were a little higher than I expected. But so worth it. Plan on spending over 20$ a person.

Don’t go here! They will hustle you if they think you don’t know the prices of things. I didn’t realize they charged me $11.29 for 1 plantain. Like literally plantains by themselves and I called to complain. They justified the purchase amount. Don’t waste your time and if you do go, check the prices before checking out! They don’t match the menu.

This was pretty close to a perfect meal. To be honest the service is what gave them the perfect score. The woman taking my order was very sweet and patient when telling me about the food. Great customer service for sure. I got the goat stew and fufu with a side of goat Joloff. Now the goat stew is what would have prevented the 5 stars. The goat was tender and braised well but unfortunately the soup just wasn’t great. It didn’t have a ton of flavor and I was a little disappointed. I am new to west African cuisine, so there’s an equal chance that that type of soup isn’t supposed to have much flavor. Now the saving grace was that side of spiced goat meat and joloff. My god. Delicious and spicy! An...

I’ve gotten food from here twice and let me just say this, the food is AMAZING. I first did a takeout for the dokunu (kenkey) and tilapia. It was perfect, just the right amount of spice. The service was amazing, very kind friendly lady that attended to me. The thing is I wish I got more shito. The price is very affordable. The second food I ordered was waakye. It was extremely delicious, it was my first time trying it. Huge portion! Everything about it was perfect. I’m excited to try more of their meals. I’m definitely telling everyone I know about this hidden gem. Please start operating...
