El Barrio Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Romeoville

I usually don’t have any complaints coming here. My husband and I love the food- it’s some of the best near us without having to go to Joliet or the city. But I gotta say I was not thrilled to get my order today. To be fair I’m willing to bet it was the Uber eats drivers fault, but there was other issues with our order. Most of the beans ended up either outside of the container or on our tacos. We didn’t get any of the red or green sauce for the tacos, no plastic silverware and no napkins. And we were missing the salsa with our chips and salsa- which was a bummer.

First time this happened and like I said I’m willing to hedge bets it was the Uber eats driver trying to make too many trips in a hurry that caused the spilliage. Food arrived super fast without paying for it but I would have preferred he’d taken his time on this one.

Was the food edible, even delicious? Always. Did it look pretty? Not by a long shot. Did I eat it anyway? Absolutely. Will I be ordering via a third party delivery service again? NO. Lesson learned- if you don’t want food that was spilled all over itself and missing salsas and utensils, it’s worth not being lazy like I was tonight and just pick up food...

Ever since they have had new management & ownership this place has messed up my order EVERY SINGLE time. This time I ask for a STEAK quesadilla, but upon picking it up bringing it home IT HAD NO STEAK. Just cheese and pick de gallo, so I call ask if I can get a new one replaced, they tell me no they are closed, but according to the website they didn't close for another hour? No apology, no nothing, paid cash for this order so they told me I can come the following day for a refund, which is also very inconvenient considering I work all day the next day & wanted something to eat before I went to bed. He claimed he was the manager, I was really shocked at his approach & definitely concerned with his lack of customer service recovery, definitely below sub par. Anytime they messed up my order before this incident have been small mistakes like me asking for double rice no beans, and they give me beans but they just blew me away with this one. I just placed a pick up order at 9:35 PM, when I called I asked if it’s still OK to place an order for a pick up. The guy on the phone was very hesitant, but agreed to take my order which I was very thankful for. We just moved to the area about a month ago and have already ordered food from here at least three times and we are very pleased with the food quality. This time I ordered two taco dinners with four tacos instead of the three that usually come with it and two Horchata. I received two Horchata and a bag with my food (I got there around 9:50 PM) when I got to my car I looked in the bag and there was only one taco dinner, I was a little bit confused as to why I was charged less, but didn’t think anything of it because I repeated myself twice saying I wanted two taco dinners and two Horchata, I wanted to go back inside and let the guy know, but literally they closed the doors as I walked out and turned off the open sign at 9:54pm.
