We're 50/50 if we want to come back.
I'm the type of person who likes to look at menus on the website before we go to a restaurant, so I already knew what glass of wine and entree i wanted.
When we were seated and reviewing the menus I noticed the entree wasnt listed and that wine was only available by the bottle. When I mentioned it to our waiter, he accused me of not looking at their menu but possibly a different menu online as there's so many out there. No, I went to 1913's actual website.
We ordered 2 baked oysters to start with and maybe we're spoiled with Shaw's and Morton's but the breadcrumb ratio to an actual oyster was too much. It was all breadcrumbs.
Our meals came and I ordered the Shells and Shells and my husband ordered the rigatoni. Both were delicious.
We ordered the chocolate bourbon pecan pie for dessert and that was to die for.
However, towards the end, our waiter literally just dropped the check off at the table and goes "here you go, bye" and walks on. Didnt even pause, didnt ask if we needed anything else. It was like he was trying to get rid of us. The bus boy was a lot more friendlier than our server.
Also, we were seated next to the window and the whole time I could see a spiderweb in the corner by the window with a spider in it. It was just a little bit of a turn off to see while eating.
Maybe if we had a different sever our experience would be different, but we wont be hurrying back to give it...
Read moreWe visited for the first time to celebrate a milestone, and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish.
I started with a brut rosé that struck the perfect balance, not too sweet, and my partner ordered the Improved Whiskey Cocktail, which he thoroughly enjoyed. For our appetizer, we chose the bread, which was wonderful. It tasted fresh and came with butter that had just a hint of sweetness, which paired beautifully.
For entrées, my partner had the Figaro Boneless Braised Short Rib and really liked it. He felt the figs might have been slightly on the sweet side for the dish, but overall, the flavors came together nicely. I ordered the Meatball Arrabbiata, and it was delicious. The sauce and meatballs complemented each other perfectly. The pappardelle noodles were tasty, though a bit tricky to twirl and eat.
For our second round of drinks, we tried the Frenchie and the Paper Plane. While both were good, we agreed we preferred our first drinks. For me, the elderflower in the Frenchie was a bit strong.
We ended the evening by sharing the chocolate gelato, which was divine, rich, creamy, and the perfect sweet ending.
Overall, we will definitely be coming back. The service was outstanding, and we loved the interior. The exposed brick and hardwood floors give the space a warm,...

Made a reservation in open table and had no trouble being seated on time on a Saturday night. Our server was awesome, he accommodated menu changes without a second thought, was very up beat, and had good recommendations.
I had a tough choice between the apple chicken and the steak frites, the server suggested the steak. I took the suggestion, and it came out how it should be prepared, mostly rare. But I like it to be more medium than rare. I mentioned this to our server and he took it back to the kitchen without a hesitation. The chef brought it back to me a few minutes later and checked to make sure everything was as I like it. It was, but on the whole my dinner turned out to be just average. The fries were plentiful, but nothing special. Ketchup was the side sauce. Maybe I just had chicken envy. If I go back and it's on the menu, I'll get that chicken for sure.
My girlfriend ordered the pork chops and said they were very good. I got to sneak a bite or two of her mashed sweet potatoes, they were very good. A better side then the fries by a long shot.
We had the banana's Foster cheese cake for dessert, this alone would be worth coming back for!
Over all, 1913 is easy to recommend. Very likely I'll be back to give my dinner a...
