This is a place you go when you want Chinese food and taste is not that important to you. I saw this restaurant as I was driving by and thought, "Oh this looks like one of those dumpy places that I used to see in Chicago so the price of the food should be much less than the average Chinese restaurant in the NW suburbs." I was right the price is probably 30% less than the other overpriced Chinese restaurants and they give you plenty of food for the money. The problem that I had was that there was just plenty of undesirable food that I had to eat ( I hate wasting food).
The Shrimp Egg Foo Young offered large patties with extra large shrimp but had more been sprouts than it did egg. The patties had no seasoning and along with the watery gravy, I found it to be very bland. But the shrimp was a pleasant surprise.
The chicken with broccoli offered plenty of veggies and less chicken than I get out from the avg Chinese restaurant. But keep in mind that the price is less so enjoy your veggies. I prefer a sweeter white thick sauce.
The white rice was gummy and tasted like it was taken out of the fridge and tossed into a container.
The cook/cashier was nice. I would like to see a business with lower prices succeed but not at the expense of my palate... so I won't be going back there unless I find out they have a...
Read moreI figured I'd give this place a try, and am I so thankful I did! I ordered Pot Stickers (I prefer mine fried, and these were fried to a perfect darker gold color), Crab Rangoon, Mushroom Egg Foo Young (2 Patties which were larger than you get at most places), a small Chicken Fried Rice, a small Steak Cho Goo, a Coke, and a bottled water. The total price was $38.00 - this is an absolute bargain for the amount of food I received; and the food -all of it- was absolutely delicious! They also included 4 Fortune Cookies for free, which was very nice. The dining area is stark but it was very clean, and even though my friend and I got to the restaurant around 8:15pm when they close at 9pm, we were treated warmly and welcomingly, and when we asked if we could sit down in the dining room to eat we were told absolutely, and to relax and take our time. So, I think I found my new favorite Chinese restaurant! Remember: The only take cold, hard cash, but these days with high credit card processing fees for businesses, I imagine this is one way -and a very good way, I might add- that they keep down their costs, the savings is which is clearly passed onto their customers. If you're looking for great Chinese food in the Roselle, Medinah, Elk Grove Village area be sure to check...

With that out of the way Wing Hing is what you would expect from a Chinese takeout place. Their menu is large, which features lunch specials, and most of them probably taste the same. You'll find salty and sweet sauces coupled with different proteins and piled with various cheap vegetables on top
Since that's the norm nowadays with Chinese takeouts, the make-or-break lies in their portion sizes. And portion-wise, Wing Hing isn't all that impressive. It'll make you full, but you can probably manage to save a few more bites for a later meal. Compare this to Elk Grove Village's "Ma's Oriental" where you can easily get two or three meals as leftovers
Wing Hing isn't bad, but it isn't good either. It is stuck in the ever so common Chinese takeout limbo where you are only able to get two out of the three -- good ingredients, good prices, and...
