Not a review about the food—this is about the owner.
I’ve been a loyal customer of Big E’s for years, often placing large family orders. A week ago, a Teriyaki combo was missing from my order. I called, and the employee apologized and promised to replace the meal and add an extra one for the inconvenience. I appreciated his professionalism and said I’d return the following week.
When I came back today, I explained the situation to the owner quietly, not wanting to make a scene. He went to check, and the same employee I had spoken to was there. Despite this, the owner returned with a dismissive tone and said only one meal would be replaced. I calmly explained what I was told and asked him to verify with the employee. He refused, saying, “I don’t need to talk to anyone—I’m the owner.”
He kept asking if I was going to order anything else, but his attitude made me uncomfortable, so I chose not to. He then loudly called me “rude” in front of staff and customers, even though I was calm the entire time. His final words: “I’d rather lose you as a customer than deal with someone rude to my business.”
I left shocked and disappointed. I took the meal—not for myself, but to give to someone in need. I couldn’t eat something prepared with such toxic energy.
To be clear—the food is great, always has been. But no meal is worth being disrespected and dismissed. I’ve shared this experience with friends, family, and coworkers who I mass text and all agreed not to return either.
I had arrived with plans on placing a larger order as my family normally does but opted to take our business elsewhere. A Homeless individual was blessed with what will be my entire circle final Big E Teriyaki meal. Heartbreaking too since we genuinely loved the food here and ordered it...
Read moreCrazy menu board that took me while to figure out. Once I did, I decided to try a variety. One of their specials give you an option of two of their faves for $8.88. I went for the Nash, spicy sweet chicken sandwich and teriyaki bowl, with sauce on the siDe only they forgot my side of sauce :(. The bowl itself is actually a pretty large plate, so easy enough for two. Chicken was a bit dry without the sauce, but was pretty tasty. Only wish I had the sauce. I chose cabbage for the side and was simple but good. As for the sandwich, it was pretty aMazing. The chicken was juicy and plump. Hint of both sweet and spicy as advertised. For the price, I give it 10 stars. I’ve had quite a few spicy chicken sandwiches and paid well over $10, mostly ranging from $12-16, that were not as good. My personal preference would be for spicy only and at a higher heat level, but will try that next time. I also tried a spam musubi which was as expected. Maybe on the pricy side for one piece. Here’s the breakdown.
The Nash chicken sandwich - 5+ stars. Carried the whole meal.
Teriyaki chicken bowl - 3 stars. Tasty but dry and forgot myy sauce on the side. Confident would have been 4 stars with sauce.
Spam musubi - 4 stars. Tasted as expected.
Price - 5 stars. Enough food for 2-3 people under $15
Service - 3 stars. Ok. Seemed annoyed as I was studying the menu, but I had something set going in based on Online menu, but knew they were old and wanted to see what changed and it was a lot. No more curry, which is what i wanted to try. The menu board kept changing too, so took me a while to figure out what I wanted. Anyway, it was just ok.
Overall - 4 stars with room to...
Read moreWe ordered 2 half n half plates, chicken and beef, and no salad double mac. And a side of regular fries. Let's begin, the place is very run down, it's not as clean as I would've expected to be. The cashiers are also the people who prepare the plates. I highly dislike the fact that they do not wear gloves they are chopping the chicken in a very small spot right behind the register instead of in the kitchen. The gentleman was packing a plate to go. He closed the tray and licked his finger to open the plastic bag right in front of me, so he realized I noticed, and he right away poured hand sanitizer on his hands. Then, he proceeded to take my order. When I received my food, I noticed they served me salad, which is a pickled salad, which I did not want, but I told them to just give me the mac on the side. Ok, so now here is the review of the food. The pickled salad is no good, I didn't want it in the first place. I added avocado which the price is $1.50, but got charged $2. The chicken was dry, and the beef had no flavor. The mac salad needs more seasoning it tasted very bland. From the entire plate, the only thing that I liked was the potato salad. It was creamy and chunky. It had a great flavor overall. The teriyaki sauce did not taste good. We gave this place a chance because we saw one of those videos on Instagram of a guy raving about it. But don't get fooled. Those people only do it to bring in customers and get views. That's how they get followers. I won't eat here again. I paid almost $50.00 for two plates and a side of fries. It...
