This place was amazing! We felt like Mexican but wanted something better than the generic suburban Mexican restaurant. This place delivered on that -- the menu has most of what you'd expect, but better! We started with the elote, which was awesome. The queso fresco was soft, and the whole thing was fresh and flavorful. We also had chips and salsa, and the salsa had a nice kick. For dinner, I had the chile relleno with cilantro lime rice. It was filling, had amazingly rich flavor, and had the right sauce:food ratio. BF had the chefs platter with chorizo and [one other meat]. The chorizo was fantastic -- the whole meal really hit the spot, and on top of this, the service was quick and the restaurant had a really fun atmosphere. Looking forward to going back to exploring more of the menu!

One of THE best places near the twin cities for Mexican food that you can't find anywhere else! The menu is amazing, the food is fabulous, and the drinks are delicious. Tonight I enjoyed the special: Fiesta-style Chicharone Chimichanga on Bed of Mexican rice, with black beans on the side. Shredded fatty pork sauteed with onions and peppers, stuffed in large soft shell, then deep fried. This is a huge meal. Bring an appetite our take some home. Margaritas are made one at time. No jug mixed-up days in advance. Have also had the grilled fish tacos...they are heaven in your hands! ¡Olé!

Haven't been here in a few years and the menu and food is not as extensive and authentic as it was in previous years. Not sure if the restaurant has changed hands. Basic "gringo" selections of tacos, fajitas, burritos, and quesadillas. If you want some heat to your food, you have to request it. The pozole and chili rellano dishes are no more. The drinks are okay. I think a bit too much mixer and not enough booze as the sangria and paloma tasted watered-down. Safe place if you want Minnesota nice Mexican food. Anything with heat, drive south to Northfield.

We had Las Tortillas cater my daughter's grad party recently. I had never heard of them before but my daughter went to another grad party that Las Tortillas had catered and said this was what she wanted. Well we found a true hidden gem in this place. We contacted them about 10 days in advance and Ryan, who i believe is the owner, contaced me personally to talk over the details vs doing it all via email. He was a great guy to work with and had lots of options for us. After deciding on food for 120 people, he assured us that if we ran out, it was possible to get more food fairly quickly, which was a great piece of mind as you never know how many people are going to show up and who they are going to bring with them.

This place has all the tools available to you for the buffet you want to present. If you want easy and disposable, they can do that, or for a small fee, they can do a more classy presentation, and even have hot boxes to keep your backup pans of food sealed and hot so you just have to drop the new pan in a chafer when you need to reload. Worth every penny.

When i showed up to pick up the food, it was all loaded in a hot box ready to load in my truck. In and out quickly and it couldnt have been any easier. But when we got the buffet set up at the party, thats when Las Tortillas showed how good they really are. The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered pans of steak and chicken, cilantro lime rice, and black beans for burrito bowls, and all of it looked and smelled fantastic and was a total flavor bomb. Moist tender shredded meats seasoned to perfection, the rice was flavorful and delicious, and even the beans were well seasoned and would make a good quick meal on their own. We provided our own cold fixings to round out the buffet too.

Some of my daughter's classmates went through the line 3 and 4 times and EVERYONE RAVED about how good everything was and asked where we had it catered in from.

If you have a large group gathering of any kind and want to have an easy and worry free experience with food that will blow people away, you dont meed to look any further than Las Tortillas. We will use them for any future parties without hesitation. Contact them with confidence and know that you are putting the work of the food for your important event in the hands of a place that has every facet of the catering process locked down.

If you are like me and hadn't heard of them, find them soon. Their restaurant is a fun and vibrant place and has a great little turfed patio out front thats clean and inviting. I can't wait to go back there for a burrito and a margarita and try the food off the menu as im sure it is as spectacular as everything else.

Thank you Las Tortillas for making my daughter's party so easy...

End Of The Road? Not So Fast!

It was about two years ago when my wife and I decided to stop into a new Mexican restaurant that had just opened up in Rosemount called Las Tortillas Mexican Restaurant. Everything they made was far too Americanized and they even served french fries with their meals. Maybe the owners were listening to Boys II Men when they opened the doors for the first time, because I had no time for them to be playing with my heart AND mind.

Our first experience really was not a good one and decided to never step foot in the restaurant again. We could find better authentic Mexican food that we're always looking for elsewhere. After 2 years of saying no, we decided it was time to give them another try. What changed? It helps when your parents tell you,"We just had an amazing catered dinner from there and you might want to give it another try!" So, with a slight hesitation, we entered Las Tortillas for just the second time in a very long time.

We sat down, received chips and salsa like every Mexican place offers and after the first bite, I wanted to drink the salsa, it was that good! So far so good, right? My wife and I both decided to order the Trio Taco Combo and between the two of us, we had; 2 beef tacos, 1 beef pastor, 1 pork, 1 chicken and 1 chorizo. As soon as we saw those tacos, we were already smiling knowing they looked completely different. We both went right for the pork and I am happy to say, they rock! Pushed those to the side (gotta' save the best for last) and started in on the chicken. Again, outstanding! Next was the chorizo and again, they were yummy. Started on the beef pastor and still had a smile on my face. Finally, like most places, plain beef is plain beef, often a little dry, but at last here they were edible with some fixings.

Although we though we were going to come to the end of the road and we were ready to let go, I'm glad we decided to give them another shot. Now, I don't have to head north into St. Paul for my taco fix, I have a place right down the road. I just have one thing to say - don't order the fixings if you want an authentic meal and please Las Tortillas, don't change a thing. You've got us hooked with what you're serving your patrons now and we'll be back for more, especially that outstanding...

I used to go here regularly when they first opened and then I went on a hiatus for a bit and I am not sure why. The happy hour specials are very good here. It is a neat, friendly environment. This is not a large place but the food is very good. They have an open kitchen so you can see that it is clean and the people making your food look clean and professional.

They have updated the menu recently that I think adds more variety to the menu. I LOVE the Mexican Corn when it is in season. That is worth the trip on it's own! See photos of my past visits to see what it looks like. They use fresh ingredients which makes you not feel guilty for eating out. I have went on a health kick losing about 85 pounds in the last 2 years and it is hard to find a place that serves realistic portions with healthy food done right. This is one of those places. You can taste the passion in the food when you eat it. I want to add that the house margarita that is on special for happy hour is good. you can easily have a couple. :)

Edit: They only use fresh ingredients. They don't have a freezer or microwave and they freshly press...
