First time at this theater. Was very hard to find, the little road youâre supposed to take isnât marked and I drove past it. People who have gone here for years will probably say âwell duh! Turn into unmarked roads, itâs near the sign on the corner of Carousel and Chippendale!â but I donât think that way.
The theater has two staircases on either side of the middle, and the middle is only one of 2 spots where the curb is low enough for a wheelchair to access the sidewalk. The other is on the west end. The long and winding wheelchair access is on the right. At least for those that can walk up stairs; the stairs are a low rise/easy to go up and down. I was easily able to navigate them with my cane.
Inside there appears to be a kiosk for those who purchased tickets online to print them out, itâs near the ticket counter which is completely separate from the concessions. One side of the concession is labeled for those who ordered ahead to pick up their popcorn/candy/drinks. I didnât do either as I wasnât sure how they work (is there a way to ask for extra buttery topping, I also didnât know they donât have Real butter). I ordered a combo after buying my ticket and choosing my seat. The guy at the concession was pleasant enough, though he gave of an air of âI hate my job, but Iâm going to do it well.â
I had read another review where this customer complained about a horror film advertisement near the theater her kids were going to. I had a kiddy advertisement outside my horror film. I tried looking away, I shouldnât have to be subjected to such nonsense (LOL).
I really enjoyed the DreamLounger, and now understand just because the seats are âcuddle seatsâ it doesnât mean you canât enjoy one side. There are armrests in the middle if the cuddle chairs that can be lowered for non-cuddlers or singles, and pulled up for couples. These recliners are much different from the recliners Iâm used to; leatherette as opposed to vinyl, and cup holders separated from people on either side. Youâre not fighting with the person next to you for the cup holder or use of the armrest.
The ticketing lady was pleasant on my way out, thanking me for coming. This was pleasant, though you have to walk out the way you came in, other than emergency exits there arenât any other egress points. Not a problem, but at the theater I usually go to (that was no longer showing the movie before 5pm) has several other doors to exit to the parking lot.
Overall a pleasant experience, except for the...
Read moreI visited this theater for the first time today and was.not impressed. Would not recommend anyone visit this one. Do yourself a favor and drive out of your way to go to a different theater. The seats were great! Good job with those. Video and audio quality were also good. Almost everything else I experienced there today was awful however. $11 a piece for a Saturday matinee seemed a bit much but I'm more than willing to spend that if it's a good venue. This one unfortunately is not. We ordered 2 hot dogs, 2 sodas, a box of candy and some popcorn. It was $45. The hot dogs were old, past their prime, and the buns were hard. Actually hard. They had been sitting out so long that they developed a crust around the outside of the bun that broke and flaked apart with every bite. Eating it left crumbs on my shirt. And the dogs were scrawny and dry because they'd been sitting in the heat too long and had lost all their moisture. The popcorn was bland, and the popped pieces were quite small in size which was odd and noticeable right away. It was really weird. Never seen this before. It's as if they buy small kernels for their popcorn. And these were not broken pieces. They were full pieces. Also it was not buttered enough even though I asked for extra. And I had to go back and ask for more after the movie had started because they only buttered the top. That was annoying.
Both soda machines are the kind that drip a steady stream of water on your hand as you fill up your cup. I tried 2 different sodas and my son a third and they each leaked on our hands the entire time the cup was filling.
The most annoying aspect of the visit however was inside the theater during the movie. Once the movie had started they dimmed the lights only a bit and left them on throughout the film. It was at least 2 or 3 times brighter in there than it should have been. It made watching the movie difficult and distracting. You could see everyone and every thing in the room, clearly. Just a terrible in-movie experience. That is the biggest reason I won't go back to this theater. It just ruins the experience when you have to watch the movie in a room that is...
Read moreOver the last 10 years I've gone to this theater occasionally; and in the last 2-3 years It's really gotten worst n worst: Many of the seats are broken from overuse and all of them are stained and gross looking once, with the lights it's so noticeable it gives you a repugnance feeling; the Men's bathroom urinal are the nastiest I've seen in all my life everytime I've gone there in the last few years having huge urine puddles in front and beneath the urinals, it's as if the flush right onto the floor. This last visit arriving to check in I was told that the theater # 5 heating system was out of order and was told if I was uncomfortable I could get a refund, but was given a free complimentary size popcorn for the inconvenience. The popcorn I was given by one of the young ladies behind the counter had a grim look on her face and brought to me the scraping of the popcorn, lol, I never thought ilI would get ripped off on free popcorn. This popcorn issue and I feel like the girl who served me the popcorn treated me differently for discriminatory psychological issues of her own is what's brought me to write this negative review. But yea, this theater to me looks close to needing to be condemned; it's too old! besides theme XL Lounges which I helped build as a union carpenter, and still am,...
